Wishing for Cool - Sunday Wear

Hello from the HOT and steamy,

I hope that not all of my posts begin with the "man it's hot" statement but at least for now they will.

However there is respite on the horizon so I wanted to wear the cool, fun wear meant for flea-marketing and errands.

I am wearing on of my favorite dresses, purchased at H&M for a mere $10! It is also slightly large so I cinch it to make it seem like it is meant for my bite-sizedness. If one can see it has a Rhinosaurus beetle on it and its an homage to my father and his love of bugs. Paired with it I am wearing a black and white sash, a turquoise necklace, Sprout watch, and blue sandals.

The fabric of the dress is very light and I hope it will keep me cool for the day.

Tip of the day: Wear light fabrics and never be afraid of a little eccentricity, it makes life more interesting!

Romperrific Day, Fringetastic Night.

The irony of our bicoastal blog is that Miss P and I each have to dress for our day to day activities and the weather on our respective coasts. Today while Miss P attempts not to bake like a pizza, I dared to wear my romper even though it was questionable whether it was warm enough! I LOVE my romper, but it really is best in extreme heat and today was a warm day, but it was not really even hot. I bought this romper at Anthropologie over two years ago. I was skeptical when I took it into the dressing room with me, but quickly fell in love. Its crazy comfortable and totally functional since it is actually shorts. Its also a fun basic to pair other pieces with. Today I went with my new embellished cardigan from Boden because its new and I want to wear it all the time. I also like how it went with my gray and wine colored romper. Its not the most outrageous of pairings, but since a romper is already pretty out there, I figured going conservative wasn't too bad.

Tonight I am headed out for a good friends goodbye party. Miss A is moving to D.C. for grad school, and to send her off we are off for a night of dancing. But not only a night of dancing a Jersey Shore night of dancing, which basically means dress up outrageously. I don't think this dress is really Jersey Shore, but I bought it a month or two ago and thought this was a perfect excuse to wear it. I found it at Maribel and knew that if I didn't buy it, I would never find another one like it. I love the fringe on the front and wish I could show you how awesome it looks when I walk! I can't wait to dance in it!To try to Jersey Shore it up I tried to bump up my hair and put on my leopard print heels.

101 Day-Wear

So today I am off to a Baby Shower in Connecticut AND it is going to be 101+ and humid! So fashion is hard in this type of weather. It is all about light fabrics and flowing garments. So I chose a mix of something light with something a bit more structured.

Did I tell you that the Gap is my new favorite place? What I do there is scrounge through the Sale items (sometimes 30-40% off the Sales price) and funky it up with other items, shoes, and accessories.

Today I am wearing a Gap tank-top from Gap Body. It has a beautiful cross back but since I do not want it to be all flow I tucked it in. It is also a bit low cut so I pinned it with my elephant pin at my upper back. I am also wearing my printed shorts from Urban with my brown Ann Taylor belt, with a basic blue bracelet worn as an arm cuff and my purple thong sandals.

Frantic Friday!

Happy Friday all! And happy 250th post blog-baby!

Today was a crazy day at work as the title of this post suggests. I had a project to get out the door and a long list of things to do before that happened. With that in mind I wore my skinny jeans and flats knowing that I needed my clothes to be comfortable and functional. To give my basic bottoms a kick I picked a printed and structured top and a cardigan with floral detailing. I like how the top and cardigan played off of each other, but I am still struggling with this top. I love this top tucked into skirts, but I struggle to find the right way to control its volume when I ry to wear it with pants. I will of course keep working on it.

Melting Friday-Wear

Hello everyone,

I hope you all are well and not human melted pops! It is hot beyond relief and I will be in a cold office for eight hours today. So I wanted something in light and flowy fabrics to keep cool and something to wear over it that I can put in my bag easily. Very fashion forward needs right?

Today I am wearing a patterned H&M top that has a scooped neck and a geometric pattern. I battled my brain about the skirt and finally chose another print, my floral skirt. As for accessories I chose nature themed ones with a beaded leaf pendant necklace and a wooden bracelet. For my shoes I chose my amazingly colorful GAP sandals. LOVE THE ORANGE!

And of course the Sprout watch comes with me too!

Tip of the Day: The lighter the fabric, the better off you will be in 100+ heat (eessh)
