Purple

Today at lunch I walked past some Red Cross volunteers and one said to me: "Miss, if you and I ran around in circles we would look like purple.  Do you want to try it?"  Although I passed without saying anything I laughed really hard a half a block later.  Glad to know my blue dress was appreciated!

Focus Shift

This morning I walked with my marm before heading to work.  While changing my shoes at the coffee shop, a woman came up and asked to take a picture of my shoes.  I obliged naturally, although I was surprised the shoes had caused such a stir.  I really only picked them to go under these long pants.  But then throughout the day people kept on noticing them and complimenting them.  At the end of the day leaving dinner with friends I actually ran in them to catch a bus.  Not an easy feat, but no ankles were broken today.  Somehow my outfit became all about my shoes . . .even though it started with the pants.  Sometimes we have no control.

My Blue Dress Rainy Day!

Today the rain left NYC and headed out west to SF. Luckily the rain showers happened in the morning while I was working and it was sunny again by the time I went to lunch.

Because of the return of the cold weather and the fact that I still have to be dressed in an HB the professional manner, I chose my electric blue dress. Although its a bright color, its a very covered up dress and traditional shape. I also threw on a brown cardigan to try to tone it down even more. I still couldn't resist the statement necklace or my leopard print pumps. I felt like they gave the outfit really nice accents without being too over the top.

The necklace is another one of my mother's made by my father. This one has a cow bell on it, but I had to put some paper in the bell so I wouldn't literally ring all day at work.

Newbies

Today was the first day that I wore this blue dress and the gold pumps. The funny thing is I actually planned my outfit around wearing my mother's sweater again. I really like this sweater and thought it would look nice over the blue dress.

I really like how these two pieces compliment each other . I like how the bright blue dress is fairly tailored and how the sweater is quite voluminous. I think the two play off the other nicely. I also think the navy and green sweater looks really nice with the vibrant color of the blue dress.

Even though I based my outfit around the sweater, I got tons of compliments on the dress today. I bought the dress because of the color and the cut. I knew it would be a perfect work dress. I also really like the details, the v neck back and the sleeves are two of my favorite of the details. It also has really flattering stitching on the front (unfortunately I didn't get a good picture of it).

With the interplay of the brightly colored dress and large sweater, I decided to wear another new piece of my wardrobe, my gold pumps. I bought these recently at DSW because they were on sale and are the gold version of my teal pumps that I wear all the time. These are great because they are a little bit sparkly and a little bit neutral.
