Prim and Proper

Today I had a lunch time meeting so I tried to dress more conservatively then normal.  But I couldn't bring myself to play it totally safe.  I started with the basic black dress and cropped cardigan.  But then I had to add in the larger necklace and leopard shoes because otherwise I thought I passed conservative and went straight to boring.  In the end I really liked how my outfit came together.  It was not too outrageous, but it was also interesting.

Special thanks to my genius cousin for her awesome photography skills.

Balance

It has been a warm couple of days in the Bay Area (Hello Indian summer and WELCOME) so I decided to break out a new skirt that I have had for a few weeks but I have yet to wear.  I got this skit on sale at Boden and while I really like the shape and color, its only borderline work appropriate.  I actually often feel this way about things I wear to work, so I am constantly trying to balance my colorful, playful, and whimsical pieces with more traditional pieces to hit the right tone.  Today to balance out the skirts vibrant color and patter I paired it with a simple black bow tee (sadly you can't see the bow) and nude flats.  The skirt is on the shorter side, so the flats were a must.  Also I like how then I didn't have to try to match or coordinate with the skirt.  Overall I liked my outfit today and look forward to playing around with this skirt more in the future!

A Long Week and A Long Wednesday

Hello Fashion Blog readers!

We at HBPEP want to say thanks for checking out our blog! Because of this avenue I push a little harder to show you cheap but innovative clothing, so thanks again!

Today I am wearing a fun but pretty comfortable outfit. I will be researching in the library and either running for books, printing, or furiously reading SOOO I want to look good but also be able to get around. I also have a meeting and then heading to Astoria so I wanted something multi-purpose and of course full of color, prints, and interesting details.

So my outfit consists of my bright tomato red vintage top from Goodwill. Not seen in the photos in the great buttons it has in the back. I always leave a few open to show some back but because it has been cooler I am using my funky long blazer as a cover up. With that I chose my Gap printed scarf for the night time air and my plaid blue pants from H&M. To top it off accessory wise I chose a bunch of clear plastic and gold bracelets, my trusty Sprout watch, and some funky cool buckled suede platforms. Overall a fun and very Patty outfit.

Tip of the Day: Pull out pieces with interesting details be that fun prints, bright colors, or buckles etc. Have fun with your clothes!

Today I was slightly more pulled together for work.  But I still didn't feel like getting out of bed this morning.  I knew it was going to be a long day at work so I made sure to wear comfortable and durable clothes that would go all day.  So naturally I fell back on an piece that always makes me feel good: my printed Boden skirt.  Today I paired it with a dark teal v-neck from the gap and the same brown shoes and cardigan I wore last time I wore this skirt.  I really like the color and shape of the shirt with this skirt.  And, as my genius cousin pointed out, this color of the shirt really brings out my eyes (you'll have to trust me on this one).  In the end I was comfortable and confident all day, which is saying a lot on a hectic day at the office.

Pardon my lack of a head in any of these photos, I am having a struggle my own face today and chose to opt it out. Not to say I do not love my face and want to give it a shout out, but it is making itself very known already, so we will give it a blog vacation :)

Today is a rainy, cloudy, and busy day so I need my clothes to work with me as a dynamic duo. Today I am wearing my favorite pair of pants, these soft gray cropped pants from Urban and scored for $10. They are super soft and beyond comfortable! With that I chose my newly purchased and light long sleep tunic with a flashy vest and a funky eyeglasses necklace from my pop. For accessories beyond the necklace it will be my ever more necessary Sprout watch and some turquoise necklace for much needed color.

Tip of the Day: As Fall comes in with a crash layer different lengths of items but keep one a bit more form-fitting so you are not swimming in a sea of fabric (although that would be nice :) )
