Pardon my lack of a head in any of these photos, I am having a struggle my own face today and chose to opt it out. Not to say I do not love my face and want to give it a shout out, but it is making itself very known already, so we will give it a blog vacation :)

Today is a rainy, cloudy, and busy day so I need my clothes to work with me as a dynamic duo. Today I am wearing my favorite pair of pants, these soft gray cropped pants from Urban and scored for $10. They are super soft and beyond comfortable! With that I chose my newly purchased and light long sleep tunic with a flashy vest and a funky eyeglasses necklace from my pop. For accessories beyond the necklace it will be my ever more necessary Sprout watch and some turquoise necklace for much needed color.

Tip of the Day: As Fall comes in with a crash layer different lengths of items but keep one a bit more form-fitting so you are not swimming in a sea of fabric (although that would be nice :) )

Outfit:
Top: H&M ($10)
Vest: H&M ($20)
Pants: Urban O ($10)
Necklace: Aldo's Accessories ($10)
Watch: Sprout ($20)
Shoes: Payless ($20)
TOTAL: $100

Raining, Busy, Cold Thursday

Hello everyone,

This is the second of my outfits for the day. After hours in the library in a dress and flats I found being cold motivates you to high-tail it home and put on some pants!

And that is what I did!

So today I chose to wear my Gap cropped green military-style pants. I actually love these and was surprised about how well they fit the leg and were not too long. For under $20 they were a steal! With that I paired it with a Uniqlo t-shirt and my Goodwill button down. For accessories, and due to rain, I chose a basic silver chain and cute patent leather flats from Payless.

I guess Fall is really "falling" into place, tehe. That was bad, sorry :)

Tip of the Day: The Goodwill is your friend, and chock full of great finds. If you are a digger and you like a hunt, a Goodwill is for you!

Outfit:
Button-Down: Goodwill ($5)
Pants: The Gap ($20)
Shoes: Payless ($15)
Watch: Sprout ($20)
Necklace: Aldo's Accessories ($10)

Pre-Tuesday Tuesday Outfit

As I am running around and not having tons of time to photograph I decided to do a bit of preemptive outfitting for tomorrow. I assure you this is what I am going to wear for the day as it is in a bag ready to go for the next morning.

Tuesday I will be wearing one of my favorite brown and white printed dress used as a top and set against a vine printed skirt that I have had since high-school (still looks classy right!) With the outfit I chose a cover-up military blazer in case it gets cold. Some of my basic accessories including my Sprout watch, my sparkly necklace from Aldo's Accessories, and my NEW red flats from Urban online.

Tip of the Day: Wear dresses tucked in as tops, it can give you a lot more options in your closet!

Outfit:
Dress: H&M ($10)
Skirt: Urban Outfitters ($10)
Blazer: Urban O ($20)
Shoes: Urban Outfitters ($20)
Watch: Sprout ($20)
Necklace: Aldo's Accessories ($10)

Simple Sunday

Today is a beautiful day in New York but I am exhausted, crawling out of bed much later than usual I wanted to wear something comfortable, casual, and easy to walk in - with a dash of patty funkiness.

How I do that is add print and lots of it. The top I chose today is one of my few Uniqlo purchases, and kind of a splurge, in comparison to the single to under $20 items I typically purchase. I am a sucker for less expensive brands working with high-fashion and this Cacheral top hits the mark for me.

I paired it with shorts from H&M, my Ann Taylor belt and Payless wedges. For accessories I chose my Aldo hat, beaded gift necklaces, and my watch - Sprout as always.

I feel ready for a walk and seeing a friend and falling asleep to a movie about bees, a perfect Sunday.

Tip of the Day: Access high fashion through cheaper bigger stores like Target, Uniqlo, Payless, and H&M - you will not be disappointed.

Outfit:
Top: Uniqlo ($30)
Shorts: H&M ($20)
Shoes: Payless ($20)
Hate: Aldo Accessories ($14)
Necklace: Gift ($0)
Watch: Sprout ($20)

Brunch and Errands Weekend Wrap-Out Outfit

Hello my lovely readers!

Today is warm but much nicer out so I tried to wear some light and airy items with some accessories that added the oomph and sassiness needed for a fine brunch with a lovely friend!

Today I chose my basic green tank-top tucked into a striped Express skirt that I belted a little higher up my waist. In addition I chose some funky accessories - the tinier one is in the shape of a pink owl and my favorite the rocking plastic glasses that my dad got me last year.

As always the Sprout watch is in attendance and I wore my yellow peep-toe small wedges to complete the outfit!

Tip of the Day: Funky necklaces make any outfit interesting and you do not need to leave comfort at the door. Wear flowy fabrics and bring in the funky with your jewelry or shoes (or perhaps a belt too!)

Outfit:
Tank: Wet Seal ($5)
Skirt: Express ($10)
Shoes: Payless ($10)
Watch: Sprout ($20)
Belt: H&M ($5)
Necklace (Owl): Forever 21 ($2.50)
Necklace (Glasses): Aldo Accessories ($20)

It is a beautiful day and the week is almost over, time to celebrate with a nice outfit!

Today I am wearing an American Apparel Dress with jeggings (my first and ONLY pair) from Payless, tehe. I tied the dress with two different sashes and wore my favorite flats from Payless. I like the outfit overall and it has some funky moments. It is also very comfortable. The highlight is certainly the funky shoes from the Christian Siriano brand at Payless and the glasses necklaces that my father got me from Aldos Accessories.

HB&PEP is one month and kicking! Another week of Fashion

Happy One month HB&PEP! So we have managed to highlight our clothes for a month with some challenges and special segments, but the work is not over and we will continue to celebrate our ideas and clothes.

It is Monday and I am ready to head out to work in the office. My outfit is a tribute to the meld between work and casual-ware and is also a tribute to my friend Rushaine and her amazing gift to me from Jamaica (can you guess what it is...)

So I am wearing a basic autumn, mustard yellow t-shirt with a cropped blue blazer. I am wearing Rushaine's gift (a dress from Jamaica) as a skirt. I love the patterns and bright colors. Due to its brightness I choose to wear some basics along with it. The skirt is belted with a basic skinny blue belt and I am wearing a cute flower pin with purple close-toe wedges. On my left arm I am also wearing a clear plastic bracelet and a single sparkly necklace from Aldo's Accessories. One can never have too many accessories I say!

Tip of the Day: Turn a Dress into a skirt or vice versa!

Outfit:
Top: Urban Outfitters ($4.99)
Blazer: H&M ($19.99)
Skirt: Free, a gift from Shainey!
Shoes: Payless ($10)
Pin: A gift from an old adviser Nancy
Bracelet: A gift from my friend Martha
Necklace: Aldo Accessories: $20
Belt: H&M ($5)

The start of a LONG school week...

The formatting for the blog has gone funky again so we will roll with it and use it as a creative way to exhibit our clothes. I. am. exhausted. Papers, presentations, preparing for an alumni party, and there is so much to do and with a splitting headache that may be the start of a head cold I decided to fight the feeling and dress well. At first I was going to wear some cropped shorts but then I re-thought it and decided to wear two dresses over each other with tights and platforms. I feel like looking good is like a placebo to feeling good, hope it works! Today I am wearing a DKNY dress given to me by my friend Emily. I wore it for New Years but realized I could layer it and let the interesting hem be exposed. I am wearing over it a long dress/shirt from H&M. I am also wear blue tights and my turquoise platforms with silver necklaces from Aldo Accessories. Tip of the Day: Look good to feel good, layer dresses. Outfit: Dress #1: DKNY (Free, a gift) Dress#2: H&M ($10) Belt: Boomerangs ($2) Tights: H&M ($4) Shoes: H&M ($20) Necklaces: Aldo Accessories ($20)

Can I Wear That, Really?

Welcome to a new segment of the blog. As said in a previous blog many fashion magazines and blogs have spreads or posts related to difficult items that can be work in many different ways. Instead of hiding behind what is commonly worn a person can pull something crazy out of their closet and wear it on their day to day travels, to work, or to a night out.

This is my first try to bear with me!

Today's item is .... a pleather short-sleeve top from H&M (found on sale for $10) Now when I think of pleather I think of these disgusting brown pleather bell-bottom pants with be-dazzles on the side that I had in junior high. Yes that is right my friend I was in fashion purgatory then (but it was junior high, who wasn't?). But despite pleather's its inability to breath as a fabric it can also be worn in many different ways such as below....

DAY:

So I will say this, not everyone own red bell-bottom jeans BUT the point of this outfit is that if you belt a volume top and wear something slimming at the bottom the top begins to look pulled together and a lot more wearable. Any type of skinny or wideleg jean will work for this. You can also leave the top un-cinched and the volume can look interesting that way too.

If you are short like me you will need some sort of heel. In the winter I wear feels like the one's above with funky socks or tights.

Outfit:
Top H&M: $10
Pants H&M: $20
Necklace: given to me by my friend Martha
Shoes: $20 Payless ShoeSource

OFFICE/WORK:

Ah work wear the bane of my existence but wholly necessary. So I kept the top cinched and threw a blazer over it. Not rocket science because almost ANY top can be made professional if you throw a blazer over it (with some exceptions). The pants are a beautiful soft fabric and are wide-legged. Now despite my height I typically wear these pants with flats and I think it gives a casual tone to the outfit. The pink and funky flats are accessories that bring color and detail to the outfit but in a not so flashy way. The purpose of this outfit is to wear the top but not let it be the absolute focal point.

Outfit: Blazer H&M: $15
Pants Urban Outfitters: $10, hemmed for another $10
Pin: given to me by my friend Claire
Shoes: Payless: 29.99

PLAY:

Party clothing, I love this stuff. When the weather gets warmer this outfit could actually be worn day or night BUT the high waist shorts and pleather top go well together. Add some other and sparkly jewelry with a pair of heels and you are set for a night out!

Outfit: Shorts H&M: $29.99
Shoes H&M: $20
Necklace Aldo Accessories: $5

I hope this segment has been helpful! So go out there and try something crazy, it may just be wearable for work, day, or night. SO can you wear it, really? The answer is YES!
