This week has been flying by and I have been wearing my trusty cardigans through and through.  Both of these cardigans are from The Gap and are two of my absolute favorites.  The blue one is a lightweight wool and the oatmeal one is cashmere.  They keep me warm during the long hours I spend sitting at my desk at work in front of my computer.  Naturally they also allow me to show off the shape and pattern of whatever I choose to put under them - a big bonus for me!

Work Skirts

Over the past two days I broke out some of my favorite work skirts.  I love both of them because they are not boring basic office wear, but they are always office appropriate.  I actually got both of them in the summer of 2009 (which feels like a million years ago now) and still wear them.  Both days I felt pulled together but still funky in the office, my perpetual goal for my 9 to 5 look!

Brights and Bells

 Although it looks like spring in the Bay Area, it is still quite chilly.  I decided to filch my mother's bright pink cardigan (its the same cardigan as my oatmeal one, only she doesn't sleep in hers) for a pop of color over a dark dress.  Because its still cold, I am also still tights-bound, so I rocked my mustard colored tights because they I love how they look with my brown wedges!

 Hooray for casual Friday.  Short story: When I was in Junior High I was obsessed with bell bottoms.  My mother took me all over looking for them.  And then they came into style in a big way and it was nice and easy but way less exciting since I was no longer unique in my wearing of them.  These days I have a few friends who rave about Paige Denim, so when I saw this pair at Maribel I decided to give them a shot since they were only $45.  Sadly they were super long and it took me a WHILE to get them hemmed.  But finally they are hemmed and my days of loving my bell bottoms are back!

Lost and Found

 Every year my mother tries to give every member of the family something soft for Christmas.  I have no idea why, but its her thing.  This sweater was my soft thing in 2007.  Its a pretty nice cashmere sweater from Anne Taylor and so I had it tucked away with some of my nicer clothes.  Only then I couldn't find it for a while.  I recently rediscovered it, which is perfect because it got cold in the Bay Area and this lace print was just what the doctor ordered.  I paired this cosy lace knit sweater with my navy blue button down pencil skirt, my dark purple tights and favorite winter shoes, my Leifdottir wedges.

 I love the lace pattern on this sweater.  Its pretty subtle but beautiful on the close up.  I also really like this nice light blue color.

Things I Love

 Today I wore a version of an outfit that I have worn before.  I love all of the pieces of this outfit: the dress, the scarf, the shoes and my opaque colored tights.  Honestly, I would wear this dress everyday if I could.

 So instead of telling you about an outfit that you've seen before, I decided to show off a coat I got at Anthro a few weeks ago.

 Really, I bought this coat because it was a smoking deal!  It was originally marked as $350 and I bought it for $50!  I asked the woman at the store about it while I was checking out and she said its likely because the coat ran really big.  Although its pretty voluminous, it seems fitting for the vintage look its going for.

Adventures with my Blackberry

 As it is Wednesday I race out of work at 5 on the dot to attempt to stretch my body and quiet my mind at yoga.  But this means that I must take my outfit pictures in the morning, which this morning I forgot to do.  To remedy this I raced to the ladies room, work blackberry in hand, and snapped away!  Because this dress has such a bold pattern I don't have that many different ways to wear it that are still appropriate for the office, so this is basically the same way I wore it to the office last time.  I merely switched the tights and scarf!  Similar but different, no?  Either way, I'm still mildly obsessed with this dress and perhaps would wear it everyday if I could get away with it.

My old green tights that I bought in Europe finally bit the dust!  But luckily I found these on sale at Anthro last weekend!  Me and green tights, it was meant to be.

Seeds

I had this outfit in my mind the whole long weekend.  And although its okay, in my mind it was better.  My waist looked smaller, my dress looked fuller.  Oh well, you win some, you lose some.  I did love the necklace that I wore with this dress.  It was my grandmothers, and it is made of different seeds and nuts.  The ironic thing is I used to have a seed necklace and I passed it along to Miss P because I never really wore it!  I guess I was meant to have a necklace made from seeds.  It made today's outfit much better!

The Stages of My Outfit

 Another subtle HB outfit no?  So many things to say: (1) I got more dressed up then I usually would have this dead week because we were celebrating my Daddio's Birthday with fancy pants dinner! (2) A good portion of this outfit is borrowed and/or from Anthropologie.  (3) I posted tons of pictures because this outfit went through many variations throughout my day (flats and the cardigan at the office, just the dress and my wedges at dinner, the wedges and the red coat to keep warm).

This is what I looked like at the end of the night.  I really like how the brown legs and shoes go with the dress/jacket/necklace combo!

The dress is actually my mothers.  She bought it for my brother's engagement party from Anthro.  Actually, the dress, shoes and sweater jacket are all Anthro!

The dress, necklace, and flats (in the picture below) were all borrowed from my mother.  She is very generous with her wardrobe!

I toned down this loud dress at the office with brown flats (borrowed from my mother) and the brown cardigan I knit in college.  It was still a pretty bright and bold outfit, but my office is used to it!

Honeysuckle Holidays

December is always a crazy month.  Work goes nuts trying to get everything done by year end.  There are loads of holiday parties and all sorts of wonderful people come home.  This means lots of merrymaking and catching up.  This outfit was something I wore to work and then out to the Ballet.  I love how everything came together.  Then I realized that I probably loved the dress and tights combo because they are both from J. Crew.  Yep, Honeysuckle for the holidays!

Peace Out 26

 As today was my 27th birthday, last night I had a Peace Out 26 Super- Party, which was really just a low key night at a bar in SF.  It was tons of fun!  More people then I expected showed up.  I got to hang out and catch up AND I got some really cool gifts (which I wasn't really expecting).  Its always fun to have those moments when you realize you are loved!

The headband is of course one of the bow from a gift.  It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Parings

 On Thursday I paired two of my favorite gifted items: my printed skirt and my black cardigan.  Both of these are gifts that I received from my parents over the years, albeit several years apart.  At the office I realized this was my third day of wearing patterns this week.  Apparently this week is not for color or accessories, but rather patterns.

Black and Brown

 A co-worker was complimenting me on my dress today and when I told her it was a hand me down she was very impressed.  And then I told her it was just an H&M dress and she almost died laughing!  I do think its pretty funny, since H&M tends to fall apart on me a lot.  But this dress has definitely got the distance.  I really love its flattering wrap shape and pattern.  I had a lot of fun pairing it with my marm's obre sweater and my new cut out wedges!

Impulse

If you have read this blog before, I'm pretty sure you will have noticed that I impulse by shoes.  These shoes are the latest in a long line of my impulsive shoes buys.  I was on the Anthro website a few weeks ago and came across these shoes.  The only size they had left was mine so I splurged and bought them.  Since I live in CA I figured these were perfect for winter since they are mostly closed.  I love the cutout details of these shoes and their overall shape.  I can't wait to wear them around this entire winter!

I based this entire outfit around my new shoes.  I thought the mustard tights would look great with the shoes.

I was also excited about how the mustard tights went with the patterned skirt.  They are both from J. Crew actually!  I know, Honeysuckle!
