Here and There in Cardigans

This week has been flying by and I have been wearing my trusty cardigans through and through.  Both of these cardigans are from The Gap and are two of my absolute favorites.  The blue one is a lightweight wool and the oatmeal one is cashmere.  They keep me warm during the long hours I spend sitting at my desk at work in front of my computer.  Naturally they also allow me to show off the shape and pattern of whatever I choose to put under them - a big bonus for me!

Talking

 Both today and yesterday I was talking to my cats while taking pictures of my days clothes.  Okay, I was doing the talking and they were rolling around on the ground.  All in a days work for us I suppose.

Same Same

 I had the idea that by pairing this admittedly only quasi-work appropriate dress with a cardigan of the same color, it would be totally acceptable to then pair it with green tights!  My logic is sound, right?  But in any event, I really liked how this outfit turned out.  It has a lot going on, but hopefully I don't look like I got dressed in the dark.

Days of Patterned Dresses

 Apologies for the lack of posting yesterday, I came home from work and promptly went to sleep!  It wasn't that it was all that late, I was just plain tuckered out! 

 Yesterday, like today, I wore a patterned dress to work.  I actually had a different outfit planned for the day, but I didn't like how it turned out so I went for this dress which I haven't worn for a while.  Since I was wearing it with opaque black tights I actually wore it with heels - for the first time ever.  Because the dress is so short I have only worn it with flats before.  But I have actually really wanted to wear this shoes with tights for a while, so it was a perfect opportunity.  I really liked how the outfit came together!

Today I broke out another patterned dress, but this outfit took a lot of help from my marm.  I couldn't figure out sweater to wear over it, and then I discovered this ombre one in my marm's closet!! I love how the pattern of the dress and the colors of the sweater go together.  Once I had the dress and the cardigan combo all I needed was the belt!  The one I had in mind didn't work, but my marm broke out the big guns and loaned me this vintage beauty! I had no idea this is where the outfit was going when I started off this morning but it was great all day!

Red Shoes Tuesday!

Today I broke out some of my favorite pieces and went office-funky to work today. I wore my gray sweater over my lace print dress to tone the dress down a bit. But I couldn't stand the lack of color so I paired it with my read shoes. I really liked how the sweater and dress fit together today. The sweater had a particularly nice shape over the dress and it made the lace print dress much more office appropriate. As my genius cousin said: Red shoes can make any outfit. Wise words indeed.

Lace Print Thursday!

Today I broke out a dress that I think pushes the boundary between what is appropriate work wear and what is not. It is a lace print dress that I bought over a year ago at Target. It was part of the Rodarte for Target line. I really like the shape and pattern on the dress, but I didn't want to look like I was going to work in a party dress. I think the fact that the dress itself is neutral helps play down the party dress feel. I also tried to pair it with more conservative pieces to give it a work vibe.






















I paired my lace print dress with my green belt, my sling back Stuart Weitzman's and my mother's purple sweater blazer. I thought the sweater especially gave the outfit a more structured feel. It also added a splash of color to my otherwise pretty neutral ensemble. I also felt like it paired down the large print of my dress by only allowing it to poke out from under the blazer.
