Warm Weather Days

 Its been a hectic couple of days for me!  Lots of fun plans with friends and not so fun but totally necessary long hours in the office.  So when Monday rolled around I borrowed this blue dress from my mother to wear at the office.  Comfortable but still fun for a hectic day at the office.

 Its been really warm in the Bay Area recently which has been a nice excuse to break out my fun warm weather dresses.  Although I must admit I was freezing in the office today and I hadn't even brought a scarf because its so warm.  I sometimes willfully block out that I will be in the office a llllll day!

Friendly Friday

Yesterday I met up with the awesome Maggie with the express purpose of taking pictures of our Friday ensembles.  It was an awesome combo of clothes and catching up with a friend.  Although I must admit, my outfit was not spectacular yesterday.  It was fine, but definitely on the casual and laid back side.

One of my favorite things about when Maggie takes my blog pictures is she gets awesome detail shots!

Favorites

 Its been cold and rainy in SF these past few days so to start the week off I went for a brightly colored cardigan.  This outfit is made up of so many of my favorite things.  I really like how the tights and cardigan look together!

Casual Tuesday

 Sticking with my casual theme for the week, I dressed up my skinny jeans with a button down from J. Crew via Maribel, a cardigan, and flats.  But me being me, none of it was all that conservative.  The shirt and cardigan combo were bursting with color and pattern.  And I went with my teal flats since they were in the same color palate.  One of my favorite things about this outfit is how the shirt and sweater matched the bracelets my Coolest A gave me for Christmas and the nail polish my genius cousin gave me for Channukah.  It was an outfit made in gifted heaven.

Days of Patterned Dresses

 Apologies for the lack of posting yesterday, I came home from work and promptly went to sleep!  It wasn't that it was all that late, I was just plain tuckered out! 

 Yesterday, like today, I wore a patterned dress to work.  I actually had a different outfit planned for the day, but I didn't like how it turned out so I went for this dress which I haven't worn for a while.  Since I was wearing it with opaque black tights I actually wore it with heels - for the first time ever.  Because the dress is so short I have only worn it with flats before.  But I have actually really wanted to wear this shoes with tights for a while, so it was a perfect opportunity.  I really liked how the outfit came together!

Today I broke out another patterned dress, but this outfit took a lot of help from my marm.  I couldn't figure out sweater to wear over it, and then I discovered this ombre one in my marm's closet!! I love how the pattern of the dress and the colors of the sweater go together.  Once I had the dress and the cardigan combo all I needed was the belt!  The one I had in mind didn't work, but my marm broke out the big guns and loaned me this vintage beauty! I had no idea this is where the outfit was going when I started off this morning but it was great all day!

 Funny Faces Monday

This is my contemplative face.

Headless and therefore faceless.

 On Monday I went for what is right now a very trendy look: a cardigan with a skinny belt over it.  I have seen this look pop up at the Gap and J. Crew, and the instant I tried it myself I knew why it is so popular.  I really like the shape it gave me.  In order to stay away from the boring I went for colorful with my purple cardigan and my teal shoes.  I borrowed my mother's double wrap around belt to achieve my look.  So as not to be naked at the office, I put my cardigan over my basic black dress.  I really liked the simple silhouette of this outfit, but also that it was not too muted.

Fall Tuesday

Its been cold and raining on and off for the last few days, so today I planned my outfit around one of my warmer sweaters.  I bought this sweater years ago off the sale rack at Maribel.  I really like the different patterns and colors of this sweater.  Because this sweater has so much going on, I paired it with all black underneath.  I wore my black J. Crew cords and my gifted Gap shirt from Stormy Normy.  Because this shirt is pretty flowy, I belted it with my marm's orange J. Crew belt.  To give myself some height I wore gray BR heels.  I always convince myself these heels are not as uncomfortable as I remember, but they are!!!  Still I loved the way they looked with this outfit! To combat the rain, I broke out a hat that my friend Nutter Butter made me for my birthday in college.  I love the red color and the floral detailing of this hat.  It even got complimented by a rando on the bus!!!

Bananas

Work has been bananas lately!  I woke up this morning and realized I hadn't posted yesterday even though I had faithfully take pictures of my outfit.

I was attempting to woo Wendy into schnuggling with me.  It didn't work!

On Monday, I wore two of my favorite pieces: my wine colored skirt and my long sleeved shirt with the gathered neck detailing that Stormy Normy gave me.  To spice up this outfit I wore my mother's borrowed alpaca print scarf.  I wore my ribbon flats because I walked down to the bus with my marm in the morning and I could tell it was going to be insane at work.  Sometimes flats are the answer.

Today I had a fancy lunch with some work people so I wanted to look extra cute.  What I ended up with was lots of BR.  I really liked how the ruffled shirt looked with the pencil skirt.  I wore my gray and purple shoes and bright purple sweater to add some color to the outfit.  Overall I really liked how it came together.  There was a lot of color and pattern, but they weren't competing with each other.

Housesitting: My Committed Week with the G-Cat

This week I am hanging out at the Casa de Claw with their lovely cat the G-Cat. This meant, that I had to pack my wardrobe for the entire week yesterday. This was a bit of a challenge for me as I frequently change my mind. But this week is practically a personal challenge, plan your outfit and stick with it. For Monday I chose my tweed dress - city scape combo that I have worn once before and really loved. Today at the gym, a casual gym friend pointed out that this dress is likely too big on me, which is why it only looks right with a belt. My favorite belt is definitely my cityscape belt with this dress. I love the funky conservative combo. I picked my purple sweater and purple and gray shoes to accent the gray in the belt. Although the G-Cat may not have wanted to schnuggle when I got home from work, my outfit was heavily complimented throughout the day!

Two Navy Days

THURSDAY




The thing about San Francisco is it has no real summer that you can count on. And Thursday it was overcast all day. But luckily I am a lover of cardigans. Thursday I paired my new favorite gray ribbon cardigan with my navy blue pencil skirt. It wasn't until after I took these pictures that I realized that my entire outfit buttoned down the front. Still I liked how the cardigan and the skirt complimented each other. Both are pretty conservative on their own, but have fun embellishments that keep them from being boring.

One of the reasons I didn't post last night was because I had a date with some orangies from the Jersey Shore. Or at least watch the Jersey Shore as a low key send off for Miss AP who is headed to grad school in DC. This meant that after dinner and some awesome girl time I got to bed late and woke up this morning to another gray morning and work. I ended up dressing more casually then I usually would have. I threw on a shirt that I actually bought my last year of college. It is a Proenza Schuler for target. I not only like its simplicity, but also the contrasting stripe around the neck. It is a little see through, so I put on a teal tank underneath. To add a little more color, I threw on my purple cardigan. I knew, if I wore heels today, I would regret it. Its a natural law that the day you are most tired is the day you are the busiest. I attempted to dress my outfit up a little more with my metallic flats.

Split Opinion Thursday!

Today to spruce up my brown and black wrap dress I threw on my trusty purple cardigan. The interesting thing is it got a variety of responses from people on my floor at work. One person said that she wasn't feeling the bright cardigan with the dress, and I should have paired it with a black cardigan. Two other people said they really liked the contrast of the muted colors of the dress and brightness of the cardigan. I chose the cardigan because I wanted to add a splash of color to my outfit, but I had worn my red Marc flats yesterday and my orange cardigan the day before that. I did like how the purple and brown played off each other. I kept the shoes basic since I had pattern and color going on up top.
