Talking

 Both today and yesterday I was talking to my cats while taking pictures of my days clothes.  Okay, I was doing the talking and they were rolling around on the ground.  All in a days work for us I suppose.

Indecision

 This morning I was in and out of a ton of clothes before I settled on a few of my always look good pieces.  I haven't broken out this shirt in a while, but it is one of my favorite pieces.  I love it volume and how it can be worn with pants or skirts.  Some days you just have to go with what works!

Crocheted

Today I decided to try to mix my natural HB style with my HB office style.  I love this orange shirt for its crocheted details that give it a vintage feel.  The top itself is quite voluminous and I am always trying to figure out what to do with all that volume.  Today the solution was to tuck it into a skirt!  I really liked the look, but this top is actually quite low cut when you take into account the crocheted part, so I was actually showing more decolletage at the office then I usually would.  I hope nobody noticed!

Sadly I didn't take a picture of my coat today.  I say this because if I had, I would have hit basically all of the HB staple stores: BR, The Gap, Maribel and Anthro.  Sorry J. Crew, you just haven't reached that level yet!

Improv

I usually have some thought of what I want to wear when I start getting dressed in the morning.  This morning I was more or less all over the place.  So I quickly put together this outfit.  But I actually really liked this outfit and felt good in it throughout the day.  I really like the shape of the pants and the shirt and the colors of the shirt and necklace.  I must admit though, I was freezing this morning in my office because I didn't bring a scarf or cardigan . . . Ooops!

Catching Up

 Friday was a low key day for me.  I tried to spice up my tried and true green sweater and skinny cords with my teal flats and a vintage necklace borrowed from my marm.  I really like this outfit for its simplicity but still fun vibe.  It was casual without being boring or inappropriate for work.

 On Saturday I was a bum (therefore no pictures) but on Sunday I had to go to work.  I actually broke out a pair of Doc Martins that I have had since 1999 on Sunday.  My genius cousin and I were talking about how Docs are back in style and I pointed out that I had two pairs, bought in London in 1999 that I could never get rid of.  Once I broke out these bad boys, I knew I had to start wearing them again.  Plus they went well with my 70esque flairs.

 Today was a cra-zay day at work, but luckily my clothes were comfy.  Today I paired my Target dress with my marm's ombre gap cardigan a skinny belt for an office appropriate look.  As it is getting colder I also broke out my black BR tights (love them) and my Stuart Weitzman slingbacks.  I got complimented up and down on this outfit today.  Everybody loved the sweater and the shoes.  Not bad for a crazy day outfit where I got home at 9:45pm!

Not Quite the Same

In the first week of our blog I wore this orange shirt with a black skirt and a gray cardigan. Today I wore basically the same outfit, but not quite. The shirt is the same, but I paired it with a different black skirt, a different gray cardigan and different heels. Also, this time I did not have to wear tights. Although its still not hot in SF (check out the sky behind me, this picture was taken this morning), I refuse to wear tights in the summer. I got many compliments on this outfit today, but this shirt is always complimented. Something to do with the petal detailing around the neck and vibrant color. Today I really liked how both the sweater and the shirt had detailing, but neither is too over the top. To finish off my outfit today I wore my gifted Stuart Weitzman slingbacks. I really liked how the skirt and shoes made my legs look longer when paired together! Always a bonus!

My outfit was not only work appropriate, but also the colors of the SF Giants (inadvertantly). And then luckily the giants did win today. Fashion matters friends, it matters!

Lace Print Thursday!

Today I broke out a dress that I think pushes the boundary between what is appropriate work wear and what is not. It is a lace print dress that I bought over a year ago at Target. It was part of the Rodarte for Target line. I really like the shape and pattern on the dress, but I didn't want to look like I was going to work in a party dress. I think the fact that the dress itself is neutral helps play down the party dress feel. I also tried to pair it with more conservative pieces to give it a work vibe.






















I paired my lace print dress with my green belt, my sling back Stuart Weitzman's and my mother's purple sweater blazer. I thought the sweater especially gave the outfit a more structured feel. It also added a splash of color to my otherwise pretty neutral ensemble. I also felt like it paired down the large print of my dress by only allowing it to poke out from under the blazer.

My Very Formal to Very Casual Day - Part 1, The Formal Part

Today I had a big lunch thing to do, and the attire was business attire. In general this means a suit or the equivalent. Because of the nature of the event I thought I didn't have to actually wear a suit and therefore put together this very formal but with a funky side outfit.

This is actually a jacket that I bought for my mother last year for her birthday from Anthropologie. I love the color and the detailing on the jacket but also appreciated that it was age appropriate for my marm who is in her 60s.









Under the jacket I wore my got to black target sheath dress. I love this dress for its versatility.




To keep my look formal and appropriate I wore my opaque black tights and low heel slingback Stuart Weitzmans. This gave me a nice covered up and formal look without look dowdy.

Chilly Tuesday!

I think that NYC and SF should have a little talk: NYC should donate 15 degrees to SF and then both cities would be more or less around 75 degrees and perfect. But until that happens, the lovely Miss P has to dress for the extreme heat, and I have to keep on dressing for the rain and chilly weather in SF. Although I was prepared for it to be cold today, I was not prepared for the rain as you can see by my shoes and lack of tights today.













I based my outfit today around my blue patterned top. Like Miss P I went shopping this weekend, and this top is one of my recent purchases from memorial day weekend. Its a Banana Republic top that I found at Maribel. I immediately loved the shape and colors of the shirt. I also really like that it has sleeves, so I won't have to wear a sweater over it at the office.



The shirt also has really amazing pleats on the front and back. The pleats give the silk top a really nice structure. The downside is that they also mean there is a ton of fabric in the shirt, so it has to be tucked in and belted to avoid looking pregnancy chic.











I paired the top with one of my black pencil skirts. I really like how the tighter, more structured bottom plays off the voluminous top. I threw on my Stuart Weitzman slingbacks because they have some detailing on the toe, but would not detract from the top.




Finally, to keep warm while sitting at my desk all day I threw on my favorite royal blue cardigan. I love the color and it matched the top really nicely.

Gifted Tuesday!

Yep, its true, everything I wore today was given to me! Each of the pieces that I am wearing today came from a friend and has become one of my favorite articles of clothing.

As I mentioned in my post yesterday, I am moving, so this outfit was put together last week before I thought about the fact that skirt and top were gifted. When I realized this, I decided to wear my also gifted shoes to make it a totally gifted outfit.


The skirt is from a clothing swap that my friend JK hosted almost three summers ago. A friend of hers brought it, and I snagged it. The girl who I got it from bought it at Anthropologie to wear to an interview and never wore it again. I on the other hand wear it all the time. I love the button details and the color!







The shirt is a Gap shirt given to me by Stormy Normy. It has really great volume because of the gathering at the neckline. I love tucking it into skirts to balance out the top.







The shoes are the Stuart Weitzman's I wrote about in last week's post from my Coolest A. In the picture below you can actually see how beautiful they are. And the low heel makes them great to wear all day (although the slingback makes going up and down the stairs kind of a pain).




















The final gifted touch of my outfit are the Starfish earrings that I got from my roomie Mrs. V!

Playful Tuesday

Today ended up being a relatively quiet day at work, which then led to it being a kind of playful day. Even though I didn't know that it would be a low key day at work, I also feel like my outfit today was playful because of the pattern of the top, the cutout in the back, and the bright green sweater I wore on and off throughout the day.

I built my outfit today around my batick challenge top. I paired it with my gray pencil skirt because I had also initially intended to wear a pair of purple, gray, and brown shoes and a conservative brown cardigan. I figured the shoes and shirt would offset the more conservative pieces.

Then I remembered that I was supposed to go out with my parents tonight and that my shoes needed to be for two outfits. So I switched it up, and wore more conservative shoes but a brighter colored cardigan. The kicker is that it is actually Thursday night that I have plans with my parents, so I didn't need to switch it up in the end.

In the end, I really liked my outfit. I love the color combo of purple and green as well as how the shoes looked with the outfit. The shoes are from my bestie the Coolest A. They were her mom's, but she never wore them and so she passed them on to me. They are actually Stuart Weitzman's and ridiculously comfortable. Its makes me realize why they are so expensive. I never would have picked these shoes myself, but they actually look good with everything.
