Low Key

Today was an all over the place day both in and out of the office, so I dressed for comfort and easy running around.  To me that means flats and my skinny cords.  As much as I love my skirts and heels and do believe they are utilitarian, they are hardly low key most days.  And today was a low key day.  To top off my low key outfit I wore my ruffled tank (I know, I know you can hardly see it) and my green cardigan.

Blue and Batik

 On Monday I wanted to play with the volume of one of my favorite cashmere sweaters so I paired it with a high waisted full skirt of my mothers.  I really liked how pronounced my waist was in this outfit and how the volume of the skirt and sweater played off of each other.

 This morning nothing went right.  I didn't like any of my clothes, I ran late, I couldn't find my keys, I spilled my coffee . . . Luckily, even though this outfit wasn't what I was planning, I did really like it.  I find this batik shirt kind of hard to wear because of its shape and volume but I love its color and pattern.  I should definitely wear it more often.

Getting Vintage with my Blackberry

 Yesterday I had a long day at work followed by a fun night out with my bestie Stormy Normy.  So it was a trip to the bathroom at work with my blackberry in order to take pictures of my outfit.  I played with the vintage feel of these pants by tucking in a basic t-shirt to show off the high waist nature of these pants and a funky beaded belt.  I also added on a green cardigan and a long necklace to give this outfit a more interesting look.

These are the details of my outfit!  The funny thing about his necklace is it jingles when you walk.  No sneaking up on anybody for me!

Confetti

Today I broke out my confetti top for the office.  Since this shirt has such a great waist, thought it would look great with a pencil skirt.  I paired the shirt with brightly colored shoes and a cardigan to pick up the various colors in the shirt.  I really like how the shirt looks with a pencil skirt.  Office appropriate, but far from boring.

Polka Dots

Today I had another Holiday party to go to, this time at a friends house.  I had been saving a new polka dot top for this party as it seemed festive and fun.  Its a new buy from Maribel and as soon as I put it on, I knew it had to be mine!  Plus, polka dots . . . and I LOVE polka dots (as you might already know).

Casual Wednesday

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the casual Friday of the week.  As I was leaving the house, my marm commented that my outfit was very casual.  But then when I got to work, one of my co-workers said I looked like I had walked out of an Anthro catalogue!   How sweet is that?

Difficult

While I was in NYC, the friend that I was staying with wore this top in a different pattern out on Saturday night.  This got me thinking: you should wear yours!  The reason I don't wear this top very much is because its a sleeveless top with an elaborately ruffled neckline on top of a vibrant pattern.  Basically it has a LOT going on so I have trouble figuring out what to wear it with.  That being said it took me a couple of attempts to get it to something I liked today.  But in the end I really liked this outfit.  I paired the silk top with a green cardigan, which is not a color in the top, but I thought went really nicely with the colors in the top.  I belted the top because its kind of boxy otherwise.  I broke out some new black cords that I bought at the J. Crew outlet in NH.  To finish off the outfit I wore my gold heels because these cords are pretty long and to tie in with the top!  In the end I know that I will try to integrate this top more often into my work wear and possibly even going out wear . . . who knows?

Chuffed

I was attempting to entice the lovely Romulus to come schnuggle.

 This shirt is another one of my awesome Maribel finds from last weekend.  My old roomie, Mrs. v, has this same shirt and I used to borrow it from her.  So when I saw it at Maribel, I knew it had to be mine! Today I paired it with my skinny jeans (so the volume was not overwhelming).  I threw on a green cardigan and my open toe Seychelles to give me a boost!  I'm so happy to have one of my own of this shirts now!!

He did come over to get petted but hot footed it out of there when Wendy showed up to defend her teritory

I also got this great velvet blazer at Maribel last weekend.  And it is another thing that Mrs. V had that I used to borrow.  Its as if she sold all her clothes, but she didn't!

Printed Skirt, Embellished Shirt

Although I love my printed Boden skirt, its always a challenge to show off its cute patterned two tone glory, but not have it become too over the top for work. Today I showed it off by pairing it with a navy tank with tuxedo detailing. I actually have this tank in navy and black because I love how versatile it is. I sometimes wear these to the office, but I also frequently break them out and wear them out. I really liked how even though the color of the top was pretty conservative with the skirt, both had really great details. I put a basic green cardigan over the predominantly navy outfit. I tried to wear other shoes with this outfit, but a large part of my heels are at the shoemaker this week, so I went with my tried and true navy blue shoes.

Happy Summery Afternoon All!

Inadvertently Matching Wednesday!

Princess Fiona was sitting outside my room this morning just waiting to be schnuggled. Naturally I had to pick her up and give her a squeeze, but it was only when I picked her up that I realized that my dress and cardigan perfectly matched the lovely Miss Fiona. It was a total accident, but hey, you can't argue with two perfect outfits. I recently bought this dress at Maribel. I really like how the neutral color and detailing on the front play off of each other. Its a bit short for work, so I left its shift shape alone and paired it with my red flats. The irony of this outfit is I always planned to wear it with my flats, but the sweater and the cat were what really made this outfit out of the ordinary. Too bad I couldn't bring Fiona to work with me!
