Chaos and Complimentary Coats

These past few days have been pure chaos!  Work has actually be surprisingly calm, but to make up for that I have had so much going on personally I hardly know what's going on anymore.  Even though I have really liked my work outfits this week I haven't had time to take pictures of them.  So this morning, knowing I was going to yoga tonight, I raced to the bathroom at work with my blackberry and snapped away.  Sadly, the quality of the blackberry doesn't let you see how cute this outfit was.  The toned down sweater and shoes played off of the printed dress and green tights beautifully!  On a random note, I love how you can see my jacket hanging in the back of this picture.  Not planned at all.
Several people today commented on how my green tights matched my jacket.  This was not my plan when I threw on the coat over the outfit today.  Again, the picture quality makes it hard to see, but they do indeed match.  I love it when things work out like this.

Weekend of Cardigans

This was my casual Friday outfit.  I was pretty loopy all week since I just got from my trip and had been crazy busy.  So I went for my fallback option on casual friday, a cardigan.  I have an extensive collection of cardigans and I love love love them.  My parents gave me this classic black one a few years ago and I recently rediscovered it!  It was perfect for a low key day in the office.

Sunday was a nice laid back day.  After a hectic weekend I finally had some lounging time so I went for extra comfort with my comfy boyfriend jeans and another cardigan.  I paired it with a new tank top that I just got at the gap.  I love polka dots and couldn't resist this one.    Perfect for a low key day.

Orchids

Tonight after work my mother and I went to the Pacific Orchid Expo in SF.  We have been going to this show for forever!  Seriously since I was pretty little.  Some years we don't make it, but most years if we are both in the state we do.  This year they had an awesome replica of the Golden Gate Bridge at the entrance to the expo.  Perfect for posing although not so perfect for seeing all the aspects of my outfit (my mom took my pics today with my BB, which is not known for its high quality photos).  I dressed for the office and the orchid show this morning by forgoing the heels I normally would have worn with this outfit for my teal flats!  Sometimes planning is key.

Black and Blue

I am still trying to get back into my day to day life after my awesome two week vacation.  Its still hard to get used to getting up and going back to work, but I do love the excuse to dress up and wear my fun office clothes.  I love this silk print top because its really comfortable and easy to wear but still interesting and fun for the office.

Back to Work

As I was trying on this top yesterday I came out of the dressing room and said to my friend: "I'm not sure I'm cool enough for this top" to which a random lady in the store then replied "You are, don't worry."  After that how could I not buy it?  Also it was on sale and has polka dots.  Definitely made going back to work today after two weeks of vacation where I literally forgot what office life was like easier!

Fun with Friends

I spent a lovely President's Day hanging out with my girlfriends.  I started the day with delicious brunch with my favorite fellow curly haired ladies and then headed to the Mission District of SF to meet up with my new friend Bexter who I met on my Israel trip.  Becca is a super stylish lady and after introducing me to one her favorite shops we paused for a brief photo shoot.  Nothing like sun and giggles to show off our stylish outfits!  Notice, both of us paired ballet flats with jeans, a light jacket and scarves (both the scarves actually are from Israel, mine just happens to have been borrowed from my mother) - is it any wonder we're friends? I thought not!

On me: Gap Jeans, J. Crew Shirt, Eileen Fisher Jacket, borrowed scarf, and Steve Madden flats.

My Best Friends Wedding Part VIII - An Excuse to Get My Vintage On!

On Saturday I attended the wedding of one of my besties from grad school.  She and her sweetie have been together since they were 16 and I was so excited to attend their wedding.  I actually got back from a 10 day trip to Israel on Thursday so I was totally jet lagged but it was still totally worth not extending my trip to attend such a special event!  I was also super excited for this wedding since it was an excuse to break out my vintage dress.  I found this dress at Wasteland on Haight Street in San Francisco and had to buy it.  It has always fit like a glove!  Throughout the day the dress was paired with various things:  A trench and flats to ride the train over to meet up with friends and go to the wedding together, a blue cardigan and heels to make it Church appropriate, and finally just the dress and heels for the reception!  Overall the wedding was amazing and the dress was perfect for the occasion!

Feeling sick in Brooks Brothers, Stripes, and Green!

Hello lovely people!

I have decided to narrate this one a bit, partially because I feel less than above the moon but also because I have not spoken about fashion to those who read this in a while....

So stripes are in! Kate Spade says it but really stripes have been around from Audrey Hepburn to Freddie Kroger. Put on the stripes and wear them in immensity or if a bit stripe shy, wear them as accessories (like tights, shoes, a bag) or as one piece like a blazer or skirt. Or if a bold stripe is not your thing, try a subtle seer-sucker or pin stripe. Any stripes will do!

Also colored tights and funky socks are in! Apparently now that Silicon Valley is into it we should all jump on the wagon. Well people such as myself (and my lovely BF) have grown up with the stylishly patterned socks and I adore bright tights.

All in all this is a well-conceived outfit! I hope you agree!

Stripes! Skirt: Express ($10), Top: Brooks Brothers via Flea Market ($8)

Necklaces: All gifts, pearls are vintage ($0), Watch is a gift ($0) but it is also a Casio

Belt: Ann Taylor via Boomerangs ($5)

Tights: H&M ($5), Socks: Target ($2), Shoes: Urban O: $30. I got a compliment on them today from a fabulous girl!
