Abstract

While I was in NYC, my friend Stems accused me of looking like a J. Crew model in all of my pictures.  This led to a hilarious photo shoot which will be posted soon!  But at the time I thought it was really funny as I think J. Crew clothing is beautiful but too expensive.  However, recently I realized a good part of my closet has become J. Crew.  None of it bought from the J. Crew store at full price, but still there is a lot of J. Crew nonetheless!  This skirt is a Maribel find from this weekend.  I love the fact that its a pencil skirt made from a great patterned fabric.  But when I told my friends about my find I had trouble describing the pattern . . . Abstract flowers?  Water colors?  Even the colors are hard to describe without making it sound awful.  But however you describe it, I loved how it looked today and got lots of compliments on it!  I look forward to playing with it in a more colorful way in the future, but today I went low key with a black top and my bow toe favorites from BR!  Its funny how the landscape of your closet changes over time, but for now, J. Crew is making a comeback!

Cold and Loong Halloween Monday Edition

Hello!
Today is as always a long day! But it is halloween! So Happy Halloween to everyone! Since my costume is super bulky and not easy to walk in I will have photos up but plan on just showing it off at work today but carrying it along.
So today I chose to wear some comfy and warm items. It is still really cold outside so I chose my black cozy half sweater, my Saks Fifth Avenue Red sweater and my green pants. For accessories I am pulling out a new item! Its a gift from Mike and exposes how truly dorky I am! It is a calculator watch, so cool!

You will see Sprout again but for now it is all about the buttons on my calculator watch. For additional accessories I made my sparkly necklace and am wearing a gifted bracelet and beaded necklace. For shoes I chose my DSW suede buckle platforms.

Tip of the Day: Stay Spooky and Fabulous!

Hipster Halloween

This Halloween I decided to go full on hipster.  I based this idea on my mother's old glasses from the 80s.  These were her favorite glasses (which is why she still has them), and were magically my prescription!  This was actually a really easy costume to put together.  The only thing I bought was the off the shoulder sweater.  The rest I actually owned.

My Fall Adventures - Part II

This is what I wore to take the bus to NYC!  It was comfy and easy for a long bus ride!

I foolishly did not bring heels with me, so I borrowed these lovelies from Miss LD!  You can see that Miss LA was also willing to let me borrow hers!  See the foreground.

I had planned a different outfit for my going out fun time, but as soon as I got to NYC I knew I need to wear heels and that led to this outfit!

The clothes are mine, but the shoes and necklace are borrowed from the lovely ladies LD and LA!  I am so lucky to have such generous friends.  The shoes got complimented up and down all night long! I had such a good night, but sadly ripped my contacts and had to wear my glasses for the rest of the week.

While in NYC, since all my friends have day jobs, I went into my firms NYC office too!  I brought this dress because its easy to pack.

Flats were a must for walking around and hanging out in NYC.

This is the one day that Miss P and I got to hang out!  We were playing around at the Marshall's Shoe Store!

Seriously sad that we did not have more time to hang out!

This is what I wore when I left NYC.  Its actually all navy blue, but its hard to see in this light.  I was SAD to go!

This was my last night on the East Coast, and I spent it hanging out with my Coolest A!

We went out to fancy dinner and had so much fun!

This is my sad face because I was leaving all my favorite people on the East Coast.

This is my genius cousin's iPad in a DIY case that I made from the bag my swimsuit came in.  See here with Coolest A's super sexy shoes!!

Coral

It has been a hectic week back at work and today was no exception.  In order to address this situation sartorially I went for a really comfortable top, jeans, a cardigan and low heels.  I love this top and thought it was toned down enough for the office under the brown cardigan and paired with jeans and basic heels.  It felt fun and funky with out being too casual.  Well all things relative since its such a bright color.

The WRONG Outfit for the day!

Hello!

Today was COLD!!!! I was not prepared for it as you can see. So the lace hoodie is the highlight because I had wanted it for so long and now it was $10. Despite that fact I love the outfit and it got me through the day.

Tip: Love lace, but not when it is so cold! Layer it!

Top: Gift via Vera Wang ($0)
Hoodie: Lace Hoodie, Urban Outfitters ($10)
Jeans: Macy's ($10)
Shoes: Target ($20)
Necklace: Gift ($0)

Newbies Good and Bad

The Good Newbie: My flats!  These are the perfect little black flats.  I found them at Maribel and they are Manolos!  It was love at first sight.  They are super soft leather and perfectly basic.  Sometimes you really need the basics.

The Bad Newbie: I was all excited about these tights, and then I got runs down each thigh during the course of the day.  They are new J. Crew tights that I thought would last forever like my BR ones.  I was SO wrong.  They are wear once tights and lucky somebody in your office had nail polish to stop the runs at work tights!  Very annoyed!  Especially since I really like the color and did nothing that would have caused the run other then wear them!
Overall Fiona and I really did like the outfit!
Shoes: Manolo Blahniks via Maribel, $100  Dress: J. Crew via Maribel, $35  Cardigan: Maribel, gift from my mother  Tights: J. Crew, $10 (not worth it!)

Difficult

While I was in NYC, the friend that I was staying with wore this top in a different pattern out on Saturday night.  This got me thinking: you should wear yours!  The reason I don't wear this top very much is because its a sleeveless top with an elaborately ruffled neckline on top of a vibrant pattern.  Basically it has a LOT going on so I have trouble figuring out what to wear it with.  That being said it took me a couple of attempts to get it to something I liked today.  But in the end I really liked this outfit.  I paired the silk top with a green cardigan, which is not a color in the top, but I thought went really nicely with the colors in the top.  I belted the top because its kind of boxy otherwise.  I broke out some new black cords that I bought at the J. Crew outlet in NH.  To finish off the outfit I wore my gold heels because these cords are pretty long and to tie in with the top!  In the end I know that I will try to integrate this top more often into my work wear and possibly even going out wear . . . who knows?

Falling into Fall Wednesday

Hello!

I wanted to spice it up and give you my fall look before talking about it! I look spooky indeed! So I just bought this really comfy fall sweater at Urban and despite its price, expensive at $20 I bought it for its color and the comfort with it. It will be a rainy day so I chose warm pieces such as a soft dress with purple patterned tights! In addition I thought, lets go crazy with accessories so all the pieces are gifts, flea marketed, or bought on Amazon (my watch). All in all it is a comfy outfit and reflects the season and the coming holiday!

Oh and I cannot forget my blue suede shoes! Love them!

Tip of the Day: Time to pull out those tights! So if you do, try something bright or patterned. It adds a lot to an outfit!
