Here and There in Cardigans

Dress - Rodarte for Target Vintage Belt - Borrowed from my mother  Cardigan - The Gap Shoes - Leifdottir via Anthro
This week has been flying by and I have been wearing my trusty cardigans through and through.  Both of these cardigans are from The Gap and are two of my absolute favorites.  The blue one is a lightweight wool and the oatmeal one is cashmere.  They keep me warm during the long hours I spend sitting at my desk at work in front of my computer.  Naturally they also allow me to show off the shape and pattern of whatever I choose to put under them - a big bonus for me!

The Super classy dressing room picture was taken in the J. Crew dressing room where I actually ducked in to take this picture!

Late Sparkly Friday

Last Friday I capped off my tiring week of work and watching the olympics with my sparkly cardigan.  Its a pretty dressed up sweater, but I figured its brightness would make up for my lack of energy at the office.  It worked!  Everybody said I looked really put together and they loved my sweater.  I rarely get so many comments on my clothes!

Day to Day

In many ways, wearing this bright purple skirt is easy because it pulls to focus in any outfit.  On Wednesday I decided to pair it with a brown t-shirt and my trusty oatmeal cardigan for an easy office outfit.  Because I was being really conservative with my tops I finished my outfit off with my leopard print heels.  A lot of color and a little bit of pattern, or just another day at the office for me.

This morning I really didn't want to get out of bed.  I had a birthday dinner last night and it was cold and foggy when my alarm went off.  But alas, work called and clothes are strongly encouraged at the office.  So I broke out my plaid shirt dress and a pair of leggings.  This dress is pretty short so I don't like wearing it without something under it at the office.  But its July, so full on tights seemed like overkill.  Plus its usually warm in the afternoon so I didn't want to roast!  Nude flats and my trusty printed scarf finished off my outfit for the day.  Its a pretty casual look with the leggings, but it was perfect for a day like today!

Work Skirts

Skirt: Anthropologie hand me down Shirt: The Gap Cardigan: J. Crew via Maribel Shoes: Seychelles via DSW

Over the past two days I broke out some of my favorite work skirts.  I love both of them because they are not boring basic office wear, but they are always office appropriate.  I actually got both of them in the summer of 2009 (which feels like a million years ago now) and still wear them.  Both days I felt pulled together but still funky in the office, my perpetual goal for my 9 to 5 look!

All Things Purple

Lately everything in my life seems to have turned purple.  It wasn't something that I consciously did, it just sort of happened, but it happened nonetheless.  I notice these phases in my closet every few years.  Sometimes its blue, other times green, and now it seems to be this grayish purple.

Yoga at Work

Two days last week I ended up wearing yoga clothes to the office.  It all started because I was housesitting for a friend and didn't really bring enough clothes.  Luckily I had managed to grab clothes for yoga on Wednesday night which saved me on both Wednesday and Thursday.
On Wednesday I ended up wearing my yoga tank top to work because I forgot to bring an undershirt for the blouse I had planned on wearing.  Rather then go to the office with my breasts on full display I opted for my purple tank.  I don't think anybody was the wiser, although it was a bit more casual then I was planning on going that day.

On Thursday I had planned on wearing one of my favorite sun dresses because it had been so warm all week.  Of course the fog came in and got really cold.  Naturally I did not have any other clothes to wear, but luckily I did have my yoga pants.  And extra luckily these are the all black pair - my other pairs all have brightly colored stripes, suprised?  I didn't think so.  I actually thought for an outfit where I wore my work out pants as actual leggings it looks pretty good.  Not what I had intended but appropriate nonetheless.

I don't think you could actually tell that these were work out pants unless I told you.

Purple Days

Yesterday was a cold day so I turned to my trusty slouchy pants to keep me warm.  I like the color of the shirt and belt together with the neutrals of the cardigan and the pants. Sadly as I was getting dressed after my swim I squirted foundation all over the front of my shirt!  So I turned my shirt around and wore it backwards for the rest of the day!  Lucky for me its a basic t-shirt.

I loved my outfit today!  I broke out a new skirt that I bought on sale at J. Crew last week.  Even though I have been trying not to buy clothing these days because my closet is already so overflowing but I couldn't resist a 30% off all of the sale items.  I didn't want to wear this brightly colored skirt with all black so I broke out my favorite teal heels.  I got compliments on the skirt all day and had no make up mishaps!

Talking

Both today and yesterday I was talking to my cats while taking pictures of my days clothes.  Okay, I was doing the talking and they were rolling around on the ground.  All in a days work for us I suppose.

Wet Weather

I had on a dress this morning and then I looked out the window and saw it was raining.  Not kind of raining, but really raining.  I, of course, was not planning for this and since I am housesitting was not prepared at all.  So I grabbed the one shirt and pants combo I have with me and ventured out.  Of course by the time I left work, with the umbrella I keep at my desk in hand it was sunny!

Days of This and That

On Monday I had no inspiration for what to wear to work, so I threw on a few of my favorites and called it a day.  The funny thing is people noticed that I was a pretty toned down version of myself.  One person at work called my outfit elegant!  And I simply thought it was basic.  But I'll take elegant.

Monday and Tuesday were pretty cold, so on Tuesday I wised up and covered up my legs.  I threw on my mothers vintage necklace to spruce up my dark outfit.  It was another day of funny work outfit comments: one of my friends asked me why I didn't look like I had stepped out of an Anthropologie store!  I was both flattered and amused.

Finally on Wednesday I feel like I finally had the energy to think about what I was wearing.  I haven't worn my ikat top in a while so I broke it out and paired it with two of my favorite pieces: my oatmeal cardigan and my BR pencil skirt.  I was sore from working out on Tuesday so I opted for my gold flats to complete the outfit.

Geometric

Today I paired my geometric silk print top with my structured linen jacket.  I figured the two of them went together since both of them have strong geometric patterns.  I also really liked how the jacket contained the volume of the shirt.  Because it's still chilly willy I wore my skinny cords again and my mark's paisley scarf.  Hand me down Franco Sarto flats completed my outfit.

Something New

The weather has turned cold again which was a perfect opportunity to wear my new dress from Target.      Because of how short the dress is I didn't want to wear it to work without tights.  Because the dress has a lot going on I paired it with brown tights and my trusty oatmeal cardigan.  To finish off my outfit I wore my floral flats.
One of my friends at work got so excited about this dress she tried to buy one for herself, but sadly they were sold out of her petite size!

Common Top

Funny thing about this top, I know a bunch of people who have the same shirt but with a different pattern.  Naturally mine is the boldest pattern.  It was just the top I needed at the end of a long work week.  I love it neckline and pattern of this top.

Warm Weather Days

Its been a hectic couple of days for me!  Lots of fun plans with friends and not so fun but totally necessary long hours in the office.  So when Monday rolled around I borrowed this blue dress from my mother to wear at the office.  Comfortable but still fun for a hectic day at the office.

Its been really warm in the Bay Area recently which has been a nice excuse to break out my fun warm weather dresses.  Although I must admit I was freezing in the office today and I hadn't even brought a scarf because its so warm.  I sometimes willfully block out that I will be in the office a llllll day!
