Another long day ... But its Friday!

Hello lovely readers!

Today is yet another long day for me, from work to a club training, I will be out and doing a lot BUT I want to look nice so I chose some of my favorite pieces and tried to make an outfit out of it.

For today I chose my long velvet jacket as my cover-up for the office and for the colder nights in the Fall. I then chose my long printed tunic top tucked into my favorite Gap pants. The tones are all very natural so I wanted a little bit of a pop so I chose some white heels and a funky flea market find necklace to finish the outfit. Of course I am also wearing my watch (as always) and my Ann Taylor belt to keep my pants from sliding down to far!

Tip of the Day: Never be afraid of velvet, it is your friend!

Outfit:
Jacket: Gift ($0)
Top: Threadless ($14)
Pants: The Gap ($20)
Shoes: Urban O ($20)
Watch: Sprout ($20)

Working in the Library: Thursday Edition

Today is yet another longish day in the library and I wanted to look comfy but still good for my day sitting amongst the books.

Today I am wearing jeans that I have owned since highschool and when I wore a lot more American Eagle Outfitters. Paired with that I have a printed tee from Urban and a funky blazer from H&M. For accessories I chose my necklace with the beautiful pink stone and my Sprout watch. For shoes I chose my red Urban flats to be able to climb many, many, MANY flights of stairs.

Tip of the Day: Save some of your best old clothes. You never know when they will come back and be a "kick" in the pants

Outfit:
Shirt: Urban Outfitters ($10)
Jeans: American Eagle Outfitters ($20)
Blazer: H&M ($19)
Necklace: Urban O ($10)
Watch: Sprout ($20)

Maribel

Today was an all Maribel day for me.  That's right, my dress, sweater and shoes all came from Maribel.  Although in all fairness I borrowed my mother's cactus sweater since my Maribel cover ups are all way to warm for the Indian summer we have been enjoying lately!  The dress and sweater are actually both J. Crew, just several seasons apart.  I like how the cactus and front panel on the respective pieces keep them from being boring. And to add a pop of color I rocked my always a good idea red Marc Jacobs flats.  Even though these pieces were bought several seasons apart I really liked how they looked together.  Oh Maribel, how I love you.

Hello everyone,

Wednesday and Thursday are my research days and since it is muggy and slightly chilly I am donning some pants and trying to look fun but also comfy.

The pants I have chosen to wear are a great cut (especially for a petite lady such as I) and are incredibly soft. I broke out some older pieces, one being a green halter top that I crossed the strings to make a key hole at the collar. With that I decided on a jean vest and lots or rings, a yellow bracelet, and my Sprout watch! For shoes I wanted heels but not too high, so I chose my blue jean Payless wedges.

Have a good Wednesday!

Tip of the Day: Take a top and see if it has the potential to be worn in a different way. Does it have straps? Can it be a tube top, halter, paired with long sleeves? try it out!

Outfit:
Top: Urban Outfitters ($5)
Vest: Urban O ($20)
Pants: Urban O ($10)
Shoes: Payless ($20)
Watch: Sprout ($20)
Rings: one gift, other H&M (3 for $5)
Bracelet: Gift

Bananas

Work has been bananas lately!  I woke up this morning and realized I hadn't posted yesterday even though I had faithfully take pictures of my outfit.
I was attempting to woo Wendy into schnuggling with me.  It didn't work!
On Monday, I wore two of my favorite pieces: my wine colored skirt and my long sleeved shirt with the gathered neck detailing that Stormy Normy gave me.  To spice up this outfit I wore my mother's borrowed alpaca print scarf.  I wore my ribbon flats because I walked down to the bus with my marm in the morning and I could tell it was going to be insane at work.  Sometimes flats are the answer.

Skirt: Sitwell via Anthro, Shirt: The Gap, gifted from Stormy Normy  Scarf: BR, borrowed from my marm  Shoes: Lucky Penny via Anthro, $60

Today I had a fancy lunch with some work people so I wanted to look extra cute.  What I ended up with was lots of BR.  I really liked how the ruffled shirt looked with the pencil skirt.  I wore my gray and purple shoes and bright purple sweater to add some color to the outfit.  Overall I really liked how it came together.  There was a lot of color and pattern, but they weren't competing with each other.

Shirt: BR, $13  Skirt: Also BR, $35   Cardigan: Halogen via Nordstrom, my bro and my future sister in law  Shoes: Joan and David, hand me down from my marm

Moving Fast Monday

Hello everyone!

Today is yet another looong Monday but that is okay, because that is what happens in my life!

Anyhoo today it is pretty humid, and may rain but as always I want to wear fun prints. Today I am wearing my gray star printed shirt with my Old Navy striped skirt and my blue-jean peep-toe shoes. For accessories I decided to go big and am wearing my skulls necklace, my flea market blue pendant necklace, my huge pink ring, and of course my Sprout watch.

I feel good today about the proportions and color combos, a lot of prints to but that is the way I dress and the different sizes of prints makes it a little less overwhelming.

Tip of the Day: Wear fun prints but make sure they are different, a printed body suit may be too much to handle!

Outfit:
Shirt: Urban O ($10)
Skirt: Old Navy ($10)
Shoes: Payless ($20)
Necklaces: CVS and Flea Market ($15)
Watch: Sprout ($20)
Ring: H&M (3 for 5)

Total: $80

Something Old, Something New

I initially grabbed this sweater for the cute bow detailing.  The color I will admit is an odd one.
I loved the way the patterns and colors came together with the shirt, sweater, socks, shoes and scarf combo.
Today I broke out another one of my finds from Maribel yesterday: this green short sleeved sweater.  I actually grabbed this sweater at Maribel and loved it when I put it on, and then my mother also loved it when she put it on . . . . so its something to be shared in the future.  But I got to take it out for its premiere today.  This morning it was cold and overcast so I wore my new sweater over my navy striped shirt that I got from Target in college.  I really liked how the pieces go together.  The weather was really weird today, overcast in the morning, then humid, and finally the sun broke through.  Luckily this combo was the right weight for most of it.  I paired my tops with my basic gap blue jeans and my ribbon shoes.  To keep my toes warm I borrowed my marm's striped wool socks.  I discovered last winter that these socks looked good in these shoes (not awful as I was expecting) and enjoy wearing these socks and shoes together when the occasions present themselves.  At various points in the day I had different jackets on and even my scarf.  The weather was odd, but the outfit was just right.
Sweater: J. Crew via Maribel, $25   Shirt: Proenza Shuler for Target, $16  Jeans: The Gap, $35   Shoes: Lucky Penny via Anthro, $60  Socks: Borrowed from my Marm   Sunnies: Mosely Tribes, gift from my bro   Scarf: Gift from my parents

Simple Sunday

The joys of simplicity:

After a long week with a lot of complications, obligations, but also immense joys I decided to take it easy today and it comes through in my outfit.

Today I am wearing a yellow wrap top with multiple sashes as belts around my waist and my faintly seer-sucker style shorts. For accessories I have a bright blue wooden bracelet, and a few gifted necklaces. My Sprout watch is always at attendance and I chose my purple sandals to complete the outfit.

Simple shapes and fun colors make every outfit interesting.

Shorts: H&M ($20)
Shoes: H&M ($20)

Newbie

I really like how this top matches the flowers at the bottom left of this picture!
Today my marm and I had a magical day at Maribel.  Both of us found tons of stuff and a coat for my genius cousin.  The coral top is one of the awesome finds from my time at Maribel today.  I LOVE 60s style hippie tops.  I am always drawn to gauzy, embroidered shirts.  This one has eyelets, which are a-okay in my book.  I also really like the crochet detailing at the top of this shirt.  The instant I put it on in the dressing room I knew it was love! Its definitely a boxy top, but not everything has to be fitted all the time.  I really like how it looks with my jeans and basic metallic flats.  Plus the color is awesome.
The top doesn't have the eyelets on it, but it still has a gathering detailing which I like too!

Hope everybody is having a fabulous weekend!  It supposed to get rainy here soon . . . .Boo!
Today is Saturday and Jim Henson's Birthday (Happy Birthday!!) as well as my friend Ben's B-day AND Nathan's B-day. What a day right? Despite all the celebratory cheer in the air, the air and day is equally muggy and cloudy, with the serious possibility of rain. Despite that I decided to have a fun outfit with pattern, some color, and serious accessories.

Today I chose my H&M dress with the diamond print on it. I like the high cinched aspect right below the bodice as well as the print. If it gets chilly I chose my little boy plaid from Good Will (50 cents!) and some lovely necklaces, including a unicorn pendant. Of course the Sprout watch is here to represent time and its importance and a HUGE colorful ring. For shoes I chose my purple flats so I can run around.

Overall I am happy with the outfit but I need to finish this post so I will say HAPPY WEEKEND!

Tip of the Day: Little boys clothing rock, try them out.

Dress: H&M ($20)

Forgetten Favorites

Today I broke out some of my old favorites that I have been neglecting for a while.  I wore these jeans non-stop last winter and don't think I have worn them in months.  Similarly, with the top, when I first bought it it was all I wanted to wear, but I haven't touched it in months either.  Then this morning, both of them seemed like the perfect things to wear.  I did pair them with my go to gray cardigan which I have been wearing non-stop for the past month or so.  These jeans are a little long, so I probably should have worn them with heels, but I knew I would be running around today so instead I borrowed my marm's bow flats.

Shirt: Anthropologie, $30    Jeans: American Eagle, gift from Stormy Normy   Cardigan: Boden, $23  Shoes: Preview via Nordstrom's Rack, borrowed from my marm

Finally Friday

AHHHH The can smell the weekend coming and I am so excited for it. To  have a slight break from the madness of my life is something to look forward to, so I am pulling out a new item, a dress for $5 that I am excited to share with you guys and girls!

So I am a flea market shopper by heart, I love looking through all the items and digging for treasure. Maybe I have some pirate or secret agent in me because I love to search out treasure and love the chase. Anyhoo a week ago or so I went to the Green Market and found this really bright, strange dress. It was prairey like, with metal buttons but I loved it and paid the $5 so it would be mine.

Paired with this dress is a yellow t-shirt (because it can be a bit revealing), a sash belt for the waist, and my red Urban Outfitters flat. For accessories I chose my turquoise necklace and my Sprout watch. OH and I have to wear a blazer for my office, so I chose my military cropped one, to not crowd the outfit.

Tip of the Day: Head to a flea market, you never know what you will find!
