Chilly Tuesday!

I think that NYC and SF should have a little talk: NYC should donate 15 degrees to SF and then both cities would be more or less around 75 degrees and perfect. But until that happens, the lovely Miss P has to dress for the extreme heat, and I have to keep on dressing for the rain and chilly weather in SF. Although I was prepared for it to be cold today, I was not prepared for the rain as you can see by my shoes and lack of tights today.

I based my outfit today around my blue patterned top. Like Miss P I went shopping this weekend, and this top is one of my recent purchases from memorial day weekend. Its a Banana Republic top that I found at Maribel. I immediately loved the shape and colors of the shirt. I also really like that it has sleeves, so I won't have to wear a sweater over it at the office.

The shirt also has really amazing pleats on the front and back. The pleats give the silk top a really nice structure. The downside is that they also mean there is a ton of fabric in the shirt, so it has to be tucked in and belted to avoid looking pregnancy chic.

I paired the top with one of my black pencil skirts. I really like how the tighter, more structured bottom plays off the voluminous top. I threw on my Stuart Weitzman slingbacks because they have some detailing on the toe, but would not detract from the top.

Finally, to keep warm while sitting at my desk all day I threw on my favorite royal blue cardigan. I love the color and it matched the top really nicely.

Hope the week is treating you well!

Post-Holiday Tuesday....

It is very hot AGAIN here in New York City and despite the constant fan on me I feel very uncomfortable. But as they say, if life gives you lemons, wear a great outfit while holding them (just kidding!)

Anyhoo so today I am off to the office soon and wanted to be comfortable as well as show-off my new dress I bought at Oonas in Cambridge. Oonas is one of the oldest vintage stores in Cambridge and recently went through a renovation, cleaned out the clutter, and created a very organized and more selective look at vintage clothes, shoes, household items, and jewelry. The item I choose was one I looked at a few times, circled the store and finally decided to buy.

It is a long tunic (or short dress) with an intricate pattern on it in different colors. It was a little to short for my office so I paired it with jean shorts, a pearl necklace, and my purple H&M sandals. I loved this piece for the shape and the price and hope it keeps me cool today!

Tip of the Day: Despite fears of wearing this I took the risk! So take risks with your clothing.

Outfit:
Dress/Tunic: Oonas
Belt: H&M
Shoes: H&M
Shorts: American Eagle
Necklace: A gift

Weekend Purchases!

I had a wonderful weekend back in Boston/Cambridge and managed to take serious advantage of shopping deals while I trolled around the two cities.

This is a dress I bought on the last day I was in Boston and the heat was almost unbearable. I had not brought a single tank-top (huge mistake) but stumbled across this interesting and very light dress at H&M on sale for $10. You may ask yourself, "why would patty want a dress with a huge Rhino Beetle on it?" That is a fair question, it related to the fact that my father studied Entomology (The study of insects) and I grew up with them. So this great find is an homage to my pops.

H&M: $10

This skirt (I already owned the tank was a sort of rushed purchased. As HB was saying, the Gap had a serious sale of 40% off everything. This skirt was $3.97 BEFORE the sale so despite its rushed purchase I feel like it was worth the dollar and change. The color and lightness of the fabric will be perfect for summer and the hot weekends to come.

The Gap: $1.90

This was one my last purchase and was more practical ones. I am starting a new museum internship on Wednesday and was looking for a professional and sleek pair of black shorts or pants. These were hard to pass up because they were very sleek, fit well, and were only $8!

Thanks the Gap for rocking my world!

I did purchase one more item but it is the outfit I am wearing today so I thought I would wait until I post for the whole outfit.

Happy Shopping!

The weekend of clothes and much more...

This weekend has been highly productive in a fashion sense, I will take some pics and post them here for you all.

A good tip to have is to always capitalize on holidays like Memorial Day because the sales are great. At the Gap there was 40% off on all items, including sales items - amazing!

Stay tuned for photos from the weekend!

Memorial Monday

Happy Memorial day all! Lucky for me, I had Memorial day off, which allowed me to train for my swim from Alcatraz with my friend and head out the movies with friends in the afternoon. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate along with the rest of my schedule. Although my pictures make it look sunny and nice, its actually quite chilly and windy in CA today.

I bought this top on Saturday at Maribel. My inner hippie love crocheted detailing like this. And it was combined with such a fun orange color.

This shirt is a little flowy, so I paired it my skinny cords and belted the top. Also because it was chilly willy I broke out a brown wool cardigan to keep warm.

To finish off my outfit today I borrowed my marm's navy blue bow flats. I like how they match the pants and didn't detract from the rest of the outfit.

Top: Banana Republic via Maribel, $12
Belt: The Gap, too long ago to remember
Cardigan: Knit by me in college
Pants: The Gap, $40 (totally worth it)
Shoes: Preview via Nordstrom's Rack, borrowed from my marm.
Sunnies: Mosely Tribes, gift from my bro

Luckily Sunny Sunday!

Although the other two days of this long weekend have been overcast, on Sunday, the sky was clear and blue. This was perfect timing because I had a poolside bbq to go to. I bought this pink baby doll dress in the SoCo area of Austin when I was visiting friends for the South by Southwest festival about a year and a half ago. I love its vibrant color and details on this dress. Although its pretty naked, so its a much better beach/pool dress then an every day dress.

Often when I know I am going to be out in the sun for long periods of time I wear a scarf so I don't end up burning my chest (which inevitably happens when I am in the sun for too long).

On top of the vibrant pink color, I love the embroidery on the bust of the dress. But as you can see the bust is actually quite narrow, so when I wear it over more then a bikini I have to wear a tank top under it.

There is also a great tie detailing on the back of the dress. This detailing is lots of fun but also requires a tank top when I am wearing more then bikini.

This was another one of my watermelon outfits. I really liked the pairing of my green polka dot bikini peeking out from underneath the pink dress.

Dress: $30, MayaStar in Austin
Bikini: J. Crew, gift from my Coolest
Scarf: Gift from my friend the Starfish from Scotland
Sunnies: Mosely Tribres, gift from my Brother
Shoes: Reefs, $10

Happy Belated Sunday friends!

I Never Really Got Dressed Today . . .

These are the clothes I threw on to walk down to breakfast with my marm. About a mile from my parents place there are a bunch of breakfast places, my local Gap and the amazing Maribel. Often I walk down there to get breakfast with a side of exercise. These are the clothes I threw on to go down to breakfast with my marm this morning. The weather was totally nuts today, sometimes raining sometimes sunny, so I wore a long sleeved shirt with a sweater over it.

But by the time my marm and I got back from breakfast (and an awesome trip to the Gap - they were having another kick but 40% off sale), it was already after 1pm. I immediately turned around and headed out to meet the lovely Stormy Normy to go grocery shopping for the barbeque at her place tomorrow.

By the time I was done shopping and running the rest of my errands today it was too late to bother showering and getting an outfit together. Although these are all clothes I wear on a pretty normal basis, together they don't create as put together a look as I usually go for. Still, some days are down days, and that's okay.

Sweater: Country Road in Australia, $25 AU
Cat in Sweater: Miss Wendy, the psycho kitty.
Shirt: The Gap, $10
Undershirt: The Gap, $7
Jeans: The Gap, $35
Shoes: Boden, $60

Happy Long Weekend All! Send me sunny vibes for tomorrow's bbq.

Breaking Out My Basics!

Today I could not figure out what I wanted to wear. I had work, but its been a hectic work and I couldn't make a couple of things work this morning. So I fell back on some basics for my casual Friday look. I love the color of this purple sweater, and although its very simple, I think its a nice shape and is work appropriate.

I paired my sweater with some basic dark jeans and heels, which is pretty standard for me on Friday. I wore my marm's old gray and purple peep toes which matched the sweater and look great peeping out from under jeans.

To finish off my outfit I threw on a scarf that my friend NUT and her Sweetie J brought me from Vietnam. I love the colors and patterns in this scarf and it goes with everything. Since my outfit was lacking in patterns, the scarf was a welcome addition.

Sweater: Banana Republic, $22
Jeans: The Gap, $20
Shoes: Joan and David from the 80's, handed down from my marm.
Scarf: Gift from NUT and J from Vietnam
I hope everybody has fun plans for the weekend!

Fabulous Thursdays and Fridays!

Hello!

The weather here has been sunny and very warm. To adapt to the suddenly belly flop into summer (sorry and goodbye spring) I have been wearing shorts. Shorts are a nice compromise because the longer they are the more easily they can work for a work setting. Shorter and sleeker fabrics work well for parties or dancing, and the casual ones in comfortable fabrics can work for a walk, errands, or anything else you would like to do.

So pick up a pair of shorts and stroll through the summer comfortable and cool.

Thursday-wear

That day I had work, and event, and drinks afterward. I wanted to look good but also comfortable - the type of outfit where you can sit for 7 hours and then lift tables afterward. I choose my favorite long shorts from H&M and they work because of the subtle color and the shape, which is comfortable and professional at the same time. To add to the outfit I wore a striped button down open with a burnt yellow v-neck top with my turquoise necklace and red flats. It was a very hot day but I managed to stay relatively cool and de-layer when necessary.

Outfit:
Top: H&M ($15)
Button-Down: H&M ($20)
Shorts: H&M ($20)
Necklace: Cultural Survival Bazaar ($14)
Flats: Payless ($20)

Friday: Last Days and Traveling

My aim for traveling days is to be essentially comfortable but, as usual, I also had my last day at my internship and it was very VERY warm. The humidity made it seem like it was a 100 degrees out so shorts were in order again. That day I wanted some electric color to balance the light blue shorts and tan sandals. I topped the outfit off with a gray blazer and a simple beaded necklace.

Tip of the Day: Take on electric color to am up pastels and basic foundational colors.

Outfit:
Top: H&M ($20)
Blazer: A Gift ($0)
Shorts: H&M ($15)
Necklace: Given ($0)
Shoes: Urban Outfitters ($10)

Technical Malfunctions will not deter me from posting!

Hello!

I have had some serious issues with the blogger and it has blocked me from showing you my photos and writings about clothes. Despite this deep injustice (just kidding) I have been able to secretly get into the blog through a work computer. With some sly moves and a quick hand I will be posting yesterday's and today's blog posts.

Hold on tight!

My Multi-Purpose Thursday!

Today, although not particularly busy at work was a day with a lot going on. I had work and then a work happy hour followed by a non-work happy hour. I am still in my more professional then usual mode, so I based my outfit today around shades of gray. Although I wore a printed top, it was still in the same family as colors as the skirt and cardigan which helped to tone it down.

I specifically wore flats today because I knew I was having a series of drinks after work and nothing is better then standing at a bar having a good time while your feet are in agony.

Shirt: Anthropologie, $30
Cardigan: the Gap, $15
Skirt: Banana Republic, $20 and $10 additional tailoring.
Shoes: Steve Madden, $25

Happy Almost the Weekend Friends!!!

My Blue Dress Rainy Day!

Today the rain left NYC and headed out west to SF. Luckily the rain showers happened in the morning while I was working and it was sunny again by the time I went to lunch.

Because of the return of the cold weather and the fact that I still have to be dressed in an HB the professional manner, I chose my electric blue dress. Although its a bright color, its a very covered up dress and traditional shape. I also threw on a brown cardigan to try to tone it down even more. I still couldn't resist the statement necklace or my leopard print pumps. I felt like they gave the outfit really nice accents without being too over the top.

The necklace is another one of my mother's made by my father. This one has a cow bell on it, but I had to put some paper in the bell so I wouldn't literally ring all day at work.

Dress: Tahari via Loehman's, $30
Cardigan: J. Crew via Maribel, $40 (its cashmere)
Shoes: Deena and Ozzy via Jeremey's, $30
Necklace: Made by my father, borrowed from my mother.

Happy Wednesday All!

Wonderful Wednesdays and Relaxed Wear!

Yesterday was absolutely beautiful here and nice enough for a dress and a light cover-up at night. Today looks no different with it being in the 80s and sunny! Anyhoo I have work until 1pm today then farmers market, running, and then hanging out but I wanted to look nice because students will be coming in, asking questions, and being confused. I had to at least look like I knew what I was doing while being true to myself.

Today I am wearing my long men's sleeveless sweater-vest belted with a hot pink belt, a bright blue jean skirt and a hoodie material blazer in gray. I wanted to wear a lot of sparkly jewelry so I choose my grandmother's antique costume jewelry and a necklace borrowed from my roommate. For shoes I am wearing my little yellow wedges from Payless.

I like this outfit because it combines different layers with not tons of bright colors besides the blue skirt peeping out yet is still fresh and fun.

Tip of the day: Layer the long and short for interesting proportions.

Outfit:
Sweater-Vest: Forever 21 ($9)
Tank (underneath): Wet Seal ($5)
Skirt: H&M ($10)
Shoes: Payless ($10)
Jewelry: Gifts and Borrowed

Happy Wednesday!
