Lazy Day Saturday!

Today was a VERY lazy day for me! For the first time in a while I simply lay in bed and read all day. But eventually, I had to haul myself out of bed to go out and meet some friends and go to the grocery store.

Lucky for me, today was a gorgeous day, so I got to wear a sundress. This means getting dressed only required one article of clothing! And an excuse to wear this fun strapless dress.

I got this dress off the Gap sale rack (surprise surprise). I really like the combination of pattern and color as well as the cut of the dress. It also has really great deatails, like pockets and the exposed zipper in the back! It is also luckily not too short, so I don't feel too exposed when I wear it even though its strapless.

Because I was going out in the later afternoon, I grabbed a long cardigan to put on when it got colder. I went for a bright color because the color scheme of the dress is all blues and other neutrals.

To finish off my outfit I wore a simple pair of Reef flip flops. It was actually Miss P who introduced me to Reefs when we were in college. They are the most comfy flip flops out there.

Dress: The Gap, $30
Cardigan: The Gap, $22
Shoes: Reefs, $10
Sunnies: Mosely Tribes, gift from my Bro.

Hope its warm and sunny wherever you are!

Saturday sun and fun wear

Today is my given day of rest, meaning all life things happen today. So farmers market shopping, trader joes, and sitting outside will be the order of the day. Tomorrow is a long library night...

Today I am wearing a long t-shirt with a cute imprint of a tuxedo print, matched with my find from Urban. The green army vest toughens the lady-likeness of the rest of the outfit and I tied it all together with a very loud and very comfortable jersey skirt. The stripes is one of my favorite patterns and adds a funkiness to the outfit. Also I am wearing a mash of different beaded necklaces to give my poor nickel allergic neck a rest.

Finally I am wearing a fairy pin I got at Bard years ago and turquoise colored shoes. I am debating utilizing the BOGO at Payless today, we will see if I can stave off my craving for more cute and afforable shoes.

I looked at the calendar and it is only a little over a month until I turn 26, I hope I dress my age!

Tip of the Day: Wear military-inspired items with funky additions like a striped skirt. Break it up with some basic colors and shapes too.

Outfit:
Top: H&M ($10)
Vest: Urban O ($20)
Skirt: Express ($10)
Shoes: Payless ($10)
Accessories: All gifts, HB, Auntie, and my Friend Filip!

Happy Saturday!

My Late Start Friday!

This morning, the first thing I did when I woke up was check for pictures of the royal wedding. I, like so many people I know, couldn't wait to see Kate's dress, the Princes in uniform, and all the clothes and hats that the spectacle of the royal wedding provided.

This however meant I had very little time to put myself together.

Unusually for me, I hadn't put my outfit together even in my mind in advance . . . .

I threw on another one of my gap sale tops from last weekend with some basic skinny jeans.

To spice up my otherwise boring outfit, I wore my polka dot cardigan. Because my black top was flowy, I snagged a belt from my mother. I really like this belt for its colors and pattern. Although it is tiny, and after lunch perhaps even a little tight.

To finish off my outfit, I wore my red Boden moccasins. I love moccasins and am constantly on the lookout for the perfect pair. I really like these because of their color and their shape. They are not as slouchy as I would like, but hopefully they'll get there.

Cardigan: Boden, $20
Top: The Gap, $3
Jeans: The Gap, bought for me by my marm
Belt: Borrowed from my marm
Shoes: Boden, $60 (definitely a splurge)

When you are in Finals there are no Fridays - Friday-Wear

I am in the midst of a lack of sleep, finals moment and the clothes I have chosen to wear are really comfy and easy to get around in so it is nice to be able to mix comfort with Patty Style.

It is a beautiful day as well in New York City (and will be this way all weekend) so I wanted to celebrate with some fun colors and patterns.

Today I am wearing a purple giraffe print top with a printed button down over it. The shorts are long green shorts, cropped at the knee and belted with a basic brown belt. For accessories I am wearing a fun white metal flea market find and a San Francisco Compass necklace that our very own HB gave me! As for bracelets I am wearing clear beaded and Ma Jong bracelets as funky accents to the rest of the outfit.

I wanted to wear heels so I am wearing turquoise blue t-strap patent leather wedges from Payless:

Tip of the Day: Spice up shorts with interesting patterns on top and interesting accessories.

Outfit:
Top: Wet Seal ($10)
Button Down: H&M ($15)
Shorts: Urban Outfitters ($20)
Accessories (white necklace): Flea Market ($5)
Accessories (Mah Jong bracelet): Urban Outfitters ($20)
Shoes: Payless ($10)

My Dapper Thursday!

While I was getting water at the kitchen on my floor this morning, one of my coworkers told me I looked dapper. As you can imagine, I was overjoyed.

I had a long day yesterday and this morning, getting out of bed was a chore. On top of that I had lunch plans to go to the park to play with the one year old babies of one of my co-workers along with another coworker.

So my outfit for today had to be functional, work appropriate, and things I could easily find this morning. I also knew that I would be on my feet a lot today as work has been very busy.

So you can imagine, that I was extra pleased when I was told I looked "dapper." I must admit I really liked how all these pieces (which you have seen before) came together. The color of the sweater matched the shirt really nicely, and it hit the shirt right at the belt. The skinny pants helped balance the more voluminous tops, and the flats were netural, but still in the same color scheme as the top.

Shirt: Anthropologie, $30
Sweater: My Marmee's via Maribel
Pants: J. Crew, $40
Flats: Steve Madden, $25

Happy Dapper Day All!

The end is nigh! It's Thursday!

It is Thursday and it is the end of one of a few more rough weeks. My outfits need to live in the library, because that is what I am doing and living everyday. Today I am going for immense comfort so I am wearing jeans and a lot of blue tones.

Today I am wearing basic H&M skinny jeans rolled up slightly to escape the rain storm battling outside. I am wearing a very fun polka-dotted top with a sash belt to cinch it and a stripped long cardigan to keep me warm in the chilly office. The flats are from payless and are really comfy and cute with zebra print. Accessories are pared down to be just a gold necklace given to be from my aunt and a few colorful bracelets.

Tip of the Day: Embrace prints! As many or as varied as you can. The best way is paring different shapes, sizes, and colors.

Outfit:
Top: H&M ($10)
Cardigan: Urban Outfitters ($10)
Jeans: H&M ($10)
Shoes: Payless ($10)
Jewelry: Gifts! (free)

Even the Best Laid Plans

I had a Miss P worthy busy day today so I tried to put together an outfit that was both functional and still funky. I based my outfit around my striped Gap top. I saw this top at the Gap ages ago, but I wasn't willing to pay anywhere near full price for it. Luckily I found it on sale (in my size) this weekend during the awesome Gap sale.

As I said, I had a lot going on today and then plans after work, so put together an outfit that would let me do it all.

I paired my striped top (love the colors) with a black skirt and purple shoes. Because I was going out after work, I also wore some black tights so I wouldn't freeze. I topped it off with a black cardigan because I couldn't find a sweater that went well with the colors in the top. I'll have to work on that.

Top: the Gap, $12
Skirt: The Gap, I've had it since I was 16
Tights: Banana Republic, $5
Shoes: Nine West, I can't remember!

Hope your having a great mid-week!

Whirlwind Wednesday

Ah Wednesdays, always a crazy day for me with work, class, and then volunteering. On the bright side the semester is nearing a close and it is warm if not slightly threatening outside, time to bring an umbrellas as an accessory!

Today I wanted to look nice with a high-waist-ed skirt, a mid-length shirt and cover-up with flats. It is not conservative by any means BUT it is a bit more toned down than my usual crazy get-ups!

I am wearing a mustard yellow top with gold buttons at the neck and sleeves. I tucked that into a stretchy black polka dotted skirt and put on a striped cover-up to stay warm in and because the shirt is slightly see through. To balance with accessories I choose colorful and fun accessories that were given, made, and bought!

I am also wearing a very old urban outfitters belt and also very old Target flats to finish the outfit.

Tip of the day: Wear something slightly see-through .. WITH a cover-up!

Outfit:
Top: H&M ($10)
Skirt: H&M ($10)
Cover-Up: J. C. Penny ($5)
Shoes: Target ($15)
Belt: Urban Outfitters ($20)
Blue, long necklace: Flea Market ($5)
Pink Necklace: Made by Me!
Star Necklace: Given by friend Martha!

Happy wednesday!

No Tights Tuesday!

The sun has decided to grace us with her presence again, which means I get to go tights free for a few days. I used this weather as an excuse to wear my navy blue button down pencil skirt. When I bought this skirt I thought it would be a great neutral because its navy. I also really like the mismatched buttons on the front and waist band. However, I actually find this skirt hard to wear. Although it is still a neutral, I have trouble choosing tops and shoes that are work appropriate but still look good with the shirt.

To compliment the navy skirt I wore a neutral gray shirt that is embelished with a bow, my bright purple sweater, and my teal pumps. I like how the neutral but embelished skirt and shirt were balanced out by the bright color of the cardigan and shoes.

Skirt: Anthropologie, $30
Shirt: The Gap, $17
Cardigan: Halogen, gifted
Shoes: Seychelles via Nordstrom, $55

Happy Sunny Tuesday!

Hang in there Miss P, the end is near and you can do it!!!!!!

Hot Tuesdays!

It is a beautiful day in NYC and I wanted to proudly wear green and purple in celebration of the colors of my men the Celtics and of the newly arrived Spring!

Today I am wearing a slit-front top tied as a halter with a sash belt to cinch it at a high waist. I am wearing my purple cords and really high but amazing platforms from Payless last summer. For accessories I choose a jumple of necklaces - given, made, and purchased at various places. In case it gets cold I also have a blazer.

Tip of the Day: Wear a shirt a different way than expected and wear TONS of necklaces!

Outfit:

Top: Urban Outfitters ($10)

Belt: H&M (came with skirt)

Pants: H&M ($10)

Shoes: Payless ($20)

Accessories: (nothing over $20)

Rainy Day Monday!

I, like Miss P, discovered the amazing sale going on at the Gap this weekend. My top is one of the things that I picked up this weekend. However, the weather intervened and decided to rain this morning. So I ended up rocking this new black top over my long sleeved shirt jumper style and my favorite wide length pants.

I bought this top at the gap because I really liked the crochet detail on the shoulder. I also really liked the volume of the top. And the detailing on of the back as well.

Initially I was going to wear these tops with a skirt, but then the volume of the shirt looked way better with the wide leg pants.

Later, when I got home from work, to go out to dinner, I took off my belt and changed into jeans and flats. For dinner I let the volume of the shirt go free, instead of wearing it cinched like I had all day at work.

I really like the shirt when its cinched, but I think with tighter bottoms it could be pulled off without the belt. I will have to figure out how to play with its volume in the future.

The cats decided to get in on my photoshoot today. Although when it came to taking the pictures they decided they weren't so into it.

Black Top: The Gap, $6
Purple Long Sleeve: The Gap, $10
Work Pants: The Gap, $30
Jeans: American Eagle, Gift from Stormy Normy
Belt: Jeremy's, $20
Heels: Banana Republic, $35
Flats: Anthropologie, $60

Happy Schnuggly Kitty Monday!

Just another monday, except for the clothes!

Today is yet another Monday and the beginning of another week. I am in the process of finals - researching, staying up late, and wrestling with topics and ideas. The last thing I want to wrestle with is my clothe so today I am dressed semi casually and threw in some interesting pieces to make the outfit a bit more fun and playful.

I am wearing several given items, the shirt and blazer and amazingly cheap pants I just bought at the gap. The color and the zippers were the reason why I wanted/needed them. I have a bunch of bracelets, rings, and pins today and borrowed colorful shoes to fight the gray that in NYC today.

Tip of the Day: try a kinda crazy t-shirt, under a more conservative blazer!

Blazer:: Given by friend (Emily)
Pants: The Gap ($12)
Shoes: Borrowed (Emma) but from Rainbow
